Emili’s purple and turquoise bedroom was such a fun project for me. What was even better was getting to do ANOTHER totally fun tween bedroom makeover with this colorful room for her sister! 🙂 These girls are just darling and they are truly best friends. What was so fun for me in working on these spaces was getting to know them each a bit better and see the differences in their personalities. Abbi’s request for me was green. The wheels were really turning for me with this room. Abbi was a little bummed because her bedroom space is a left area that shares walls with the entire stairway with no good breaking point for paint. She REALLY wanted to paint her room, but it just wouldn’t have looked right with the way the space is completely open, so I told her if she trusted me I would create something totally fun and colorful for her, even without putting colorful paint on the walls. Fortunately, she was willing to do that and I think she is happy now. 😉
I added 3 inch gold polka dot wall transfers to the back wall. Because we didn’t paint the walls, I brought color in through painted furniture and fabrics. These nightstands were Target finds that were originally white. Here are some similar ones that are adorable…and on SALE!! 🙂 The dresser was an old one the family already owned that was painted navy, and the knobs were changed out for gold knobs.
The green tufted headboard was the PERFECT focal piece. It was just the color Abbi had been envisioning and served as the jumping off point for the room.
The dresser was accessorized with a combination of fun finds from HomeGoods, Hobby Lobby, and of course my favorite set of children’s books.
Pink fabric stacking boxes added extra cute and hidden storage for stuffed animals and other treasures.
I found these amazing lamps at Hobby Lobby (are half off!) and even though they were already gold, I gave them a shot of gold glitter spray paint to glam them up a bit. The gold polka dot sheets were the perfect compliment to the polka dot wall. The duvet cover was a perfectly pink match, and the texture added by the navy pouf I found at HomeGoods was amazing!
Cute wall art from Hobby Lobby and HomeGoods, as well as some clipboards spray painted glittery gold give Abbi room to hang her artwork and important papers.
That lighted marquee heart is so cute…but it started out red. I painted it with some navy acrylic paint to tie it in to the rest of the space. A gold one would be cute here too.
