One thing I always really wanted in a house was a dramatic staircase. Why? because I love the way they look at Christmas all decked out with garland and pretty ribbon. The rest of the year it’s a bit of a pain when I forget things over and over again that are upstairs…but at Christmas…wow. 😉 I am thrilled to be participating in this year’s 11 Magnolia Lane/Evolution of Style Holiday Tour of Homes. I always love being a part of these fun tours because I get excited to see what everybody else is doing. It’s such great inspiration, and let’s face it…everyone’s homes look extra pretty during the holidays. This tour is fun because every day this week is dedicated to a different area or two of your home, so you can get inspiration for every room. If you are joining us from Amy’s beautiful home over at 11 Magnolia Lane, welcome and thanks for stopping by!
This year I am excited to share our entryway with you. It’s an important spot because it’s where everyone is welcomed into our home. This time of year I want it to feel extra welcoming. For the first time ever, I am using faux garland. These last couple of years living in Utah I have learned that the real stuff just dries out extra quickly. I have to change it multiple times during the season. Well, no more! I hunted down some very realistic looking cedar and eucalyptus garlands and created what you see here. I love it and it is totally low maintenance. Win-win!
You can see a sneak peek here into the living room. I love how open this is and being able to see the tree from the front door.
I simply added black satin ribbon to the garland to make it prettier. Big, soft and flimsy bows and tails are just the look I was going for.
I want to make much more of an effort this year to put the emphasis on the real reason for the season. This Christus statue is one of my favorite things and I wanted it front and center on the entryway table. I think it is the perfect Christmas decoration.
I simply added some faux greens to a black pot I found at Target and a lamp on a few decor books for added height. It is a pretty simple table.
I hung a faux cedar wreath with fishing line from up above so that it would sit right near the picture.
Another favorite accessory of mine wandered in while I was shooting…at least he matches. 😉
The black and white boxes from Target were a must buy. I love the shape and how they matched the decor perfectly!
What I’ve learned this year as I decorated is to not be afraid of faux garland. Get creative and mix a few different types to create something more full and beautiful. HomeGoods has so many pretty pillows and baskets in stock right now. It was easy to find the perfect items I needed to complete the look.

Thanks so much for organizing Amy! This is such a fun tour! 🙂 Merry Christmas to you!
It’s stunning, Tammy, and I never would have known that your garland is faux if you hadn’t told us! Your furry photo bomber is precious, too. Thanks so much for touring with us again this year!
I was so nervous to use faux greens…so I’m so glad it looks real! 😉 Thanks so much for organizing Christy! I look forward to this every year! 🙂
It looks so fresh and clean and your faux greens look so real! Love it!
Thank you Julie!! 🙂
Such a beautiful entryway! That garland is gorgeous!!
I absolutely love all the black and white! Just stunning!
Love the simplicity here! It’s beautiful. Love the black, white and green combo.
Beautiful tour Tammy! You home is gorgeous. I hope you are enjoying this busy holiday season!
Tammy I love your garland! It looks so realistic! I second that about the dang dry Utah air, I tried real garland a few times and even misted it daily and it lasted like 3 days. Your entry is beautiful, I love the color scheme you used! Your Christus statue is my favorite, he is the reason for the season after all! xo Jen
Love your staircase and the garland looks amazing. The simplicity of the black bow is so perfect. Using black and white is so pretty this time of year and so timeless.
It looks PERFECT. And your faux garland is totally realistic! I love it.
