Decorate Your Dorm With Walmart

I have been the worst blogger this summer! I feel like life is happening at warp speed and it doesn’t look to be slowing down anytime soon.  We have had some BIG things happening around here the last 9 days…and now we are in total back to school, get everyone ready…including our first college student! I can hardly believe Andy will be starting his first day of college in just one short month. Although, I have to say, there’s nothing like sending him off on a two year mission where I can’t see or talk to him. Now sending him to school seems like a breeze! 😉 lol!

Andy is living in this awesome apartment on campus and of course he doesn’t really care, but I want his room to be fun and look cute. HA! I’ve been shopping around a bit trying to see what is out there and find things that don’t break the bank…because let’s face it…six boys in an apartment…it’s going to get pretty gross I’m afraid! I stumbled on the awesome collaboration between GAP and Walmart. Have you seen the cute stuff they have? Here’s a little sample of some of the things I’m thinking about:

How cute is that stuff?! I am of course loving the blues…I can’t get away from them. lol! And, it works since the school colors are blue too! Win, win! Usually I’m a white towel kind of girl, but these blue towels with the darker blue stripe will be great for hiding stains.

Stripes are always just so classic, and this shower curtain with the color blocking is awesome.

A set of plain white dishes will make it easy to add in other white dishes mid-year if some of these get broken or go missing…also probably bound to happen with a bunch of boys. I can always add in some navy blue dishes or other colors too to mix and match. White is just so great because it goes with everything! This awesome set is 16 pieces for under $50!

The bedroom has some carpet, but it’s kind of an industrial/commercial grade, so this rug under the bed will help warm up the space and make it feel more like home. Something to help soften the cinderblock walls. 😉

I love the plaid duvet cover/comforter. The greige and navy combo is masculine enough looking and I can easily layer in some additional blankets and throws for those cold winter months that will work with that color combo. I think I’ll be grabbing these sheets to go with it, and this jersey quilt. That will be a cozy quilt!

I’m not sure what the window situation is yet, but if I have the ability to add drapes, I love these.

I’m going to pick up a couple of these cute floor cushions too. I’m sure the apartment will be a gathering spot for lots of students and it would be nice to have some additional seating.

Getting to decorate a fun new room definitely gives me something to look forward to and helps make the sting of these kiddos continuing to grow up and move on a little bit easier. I love seeing the amazing people they are becoming, but I don’t like feeling like they are leaving me one bit! I hope that you find something here that makes getting your young adult children set up a bit easier too! 🙂

Here are all my favorites from this current collection that will be perfect for your student’s first apartment!
