When Lynch Creek Farms gave me the opportunity to choose an item to showcase, I picked this stunning wreath.

I have always had faux Christmas trees in our homes, but I can’t live without fresh greens and this wreath is one of the most gorgeous I have ever seen.  I love the simple rich red ribbon.  I knew it would tie in perfectly with this year’s family room Christmas decorating ideas and plan.  I’ll be sharing my living room and dining room next week, so you can see how it all ties together.

I wanted to add pink into the decor this year in a big way in the living room, and still have it all tie in together.  I also can’t live without some red at Christmas, so it became a challenge to get everything to work together.  I’m happy to say, I love the way it turned out!  We spend the most time in our family room, so I tend to decorate it more casually, and make it feel more home-y and cozy…which means a little more whimsy comes into play here.  This is also the room in the 1987 Fixer Upper that has had the least done to it decorating-wise since the renovation…so it drives me a little crazy because it’s not done to my liking yet…but we’ll get there! 😉 (You can see all of the progress from our renovation here.)

I added these red pillows,  blue buffalo check pillows and a pink pillow similar to this one to the couch to bring in more of the color scheme.  The fireplace got a pinky poinsettia to bring in more of the pink tones.  The pillows work well with the blue rug that grounds this room.

Our cute little pup Jack is celebrating his first Christmas with us, and he has gotten SO big that his tail like to make a clean sweep of everything in it’s reach on the coffee table right now, so I kept the table decor simple with one of these lanterns full or ornaments and this tree all on one of my favorite trays from HomeGoods.  It should be safe from his reach and I like the pop of red that the ornaments bring to the dark table.

The blush pink poinsettia picks from Michaels made such a difference on the tree, and really added that pop of pink that the room needed to make you think pink when you walk in.  I used this gift wrap to wrap up some boxes under the tree to add more pink too.  The tree has a combination of old and new ornaments.  These blush ornaments are new additions.  These snowflakes are some of my favorite ornaments from past years.  I also added some red mercury glass and gold and blue traditional ball ornaments.

Since I had such a gorgeous natural wreath for the mirror, I didn’t worry about adding garland to the mantel because I didn’t want to take away from the wreath.  These cute metal houses and this letter board were the perfect finishing touches for the mantel.  I added just a little European tree in a vintage canister for another little bit of green on next to the letter board.

You can see the kitchen all decorated for Christmas from the family room and I think they look so cute together!

That’s it for this year’s family room tour–you can see some of last year’s decor here and our CA house here. I love how the same decorations can look so different in a new space and just used in a different way.

  1. Oh wow, Tammy, I love how your new home looks all dressed for Christmas. The rd and pink really do work well together. Your tree is stunning and of course I agree, that wreath is perfect on the fireplace. Such a pretty room to tie in with your beautiful Kitchen.
