Halloween is just around the corner and next to Christmas, the Halloween decoration take up the second most space in the garage at our house. We LOVE this spooky fun holiday, and a party at our house is practically a must every year. One of my favorite parts of throwing a Halloween party is picking a party theme. This year I couldn’t wait to work with a spider theme. I wanted to stick to classic black, white and orange and have more of a modern vibe. I was super excited to partner with Shutterfly to create all kinds of spooky, spidery custom goods for this party. Here’s a look at our Modern Spider Soiree.
Big, bold graphics like these black and white spider web and orange striped pillows were a breeze to create over on the Shutterfly site. I used the outdoor pillows so that they would be more durable both for the party and on the front porch come Halloween Night.
I created these hand drawn spider webs in Photoshop and turned them into placemats at Shutterfly. I found these cute spider towels and turned them into napkins by cutting them in two and sewing up the raw edge. Tags and glitter spiders from Michaels make cute and easy place settings. I love these personalized plates from Shutterfly. I use them for every party because they are 100% customizeable and durable. They make darling table settings, and if you want, you can send them home with guests as favors too!
Whenever I create a party I like to have something hanging from the ceiling. It makes the party much more visually interesting. I used orange and black helium balloons with coordinating string and tied black spider rings to the end of each balloon string. I wanted it to appear as if the spiders were hanging on their webs from the ceiling. I made these easy glitter spider web bottles in minutes. You can find the video tutorial here so you can make them too.
Shauna from Society Sweets created some super cute and spooky treats for our dessert table. Her pumpkin donuts are incredible, and the chocolate sugar cookies with spider web icing are SO yummy…and amazing looking!
Don’t those cookies and donuts look so cute on the new acrylic trays from Shutterfly? This has to be one of my favorite new products. I absolutely love that I can create a custom tray for every party, and since it is acrylic, the treats on display are easy to see. These black and white polka dot trays are my new go-to for every party. You can see them in the Back-to-School party here too.
These apples were SUPER easy to make. I wanted them to resemble a spider web, so I simply heated up white and black candy melts in ziploc bags, cut a small hole in the corner of each bag, and drizzled it on the apples. While the chocolate was still soft, I stuck an orange plastic spider to it. I also added a sucker stick on top of the apple, and then cut a paper straw to size to cover the sucker stick. For a 10 minute treat, I think they look pretty fun, and they aren’t too bad for you either.
These cupcakes from Society Sweets are some of my favorite. Delicious vanilla cake with creamy buttercream frosting is divine. Shana topped each cake with orange sprinkles and wrapped them in darling black and white cupcake wrappers. The toppers are paper spider webs that she found at a craft store, cut down to size and hot glued to a sucker stick. SO cute and perfect for your Halloween party!
This fun invitation was the perfect one to give guests a taste of what fun was to be had at our Spooky Soiree. I added the rounded edges and pearlized cardstock which are my two favorite additions to all of the cards and invitations I create at Shutterfly. Those two touches make your cards feel extra luxurious and special.
Are you dying over this adorable skeleton cookie? Shana out-did herself with this one! Working off of the Olaf cookie idea that I had back when I created a Frozen party a few years ago, I wanted guests to be able to “build their own skeleton.” I asked Shana if she thought she could create a Halloween party favor for each guest that would be a “bag of bones” skeleton cookie that the kids could play with. It was a total hit. I found those adorable striped muslin bags in the $1 bins at Target.
I always have such a fun time teaming up with Shutterfly. It is always so fun to be able to dream up any party theme or idea, colors or style and create it just the way I want it. It’s almost like Christmas when the bright orange packages arrive and I can see everything in person for the first time. If you are planning a party I highly recommend you check out the custom options for creating you own party goods over on the Shutterfly website. They make such great gifts too!
