Over the past 18 months we have moved across the country, bought, gutted and completely remodeled this home. (You can read more about it here.) Decorating it is a fun project and it is fun to see each of the rooms come together for each of the different seasons…but we still have a long way to go! Spring home decor for me is all about bringing the outside in and designing a space that feels light and airy. Spring always makes me excited to re-arrange things throughout the house, clear a few things out and freshen it up. I hope you enjoy our spring living room. At the end of the post, you will find links to all 30 fall home tours that will be happening this week, and you definitely don’t want to miss any of them! Affiliate links are included in this post.
This house is much bigger (CA living is small but awesome!) and so this room is one that needed basically all new furniture. The wicker chairs are some of my favorites from World Market years ago (here are some practically identical ones) that did come from CA with us, but most everything else you see in here is new since the move.
The weather here is quite dreary much of the year, so I wanted to really make things as light and bright as possible. I love the rug with hints of blue to anchor the space. I found mine at HomeGoods, but this one is by the same designer and very similar. I have another one of her rugs almost identical to this one in the adjoining dining room that I love too. We don’t use this space terribly often either, so I felt ok about going with a very light colored sofa. The family room couch does all the heavy lifting, so it’s leather. 😉 I LOVE all the white furniture I see everywhere, but frankly I am too practical to think I can keep it super clean, and too lazy to want to wash slip covers all the time. 😉 lol!
I have added a bunch of faux plants to the house over the last month or so, which is really starting to make it feel more springy around here. I’ll admit I have a black thumb, and I travel fairly frequently too, so trying to keep real plants alive wasn’t working out so well. 😉 I have been hesitant to buy faux because I want them to look real…and I have been very happy with what I’ve found recently. These olive trees are great…so it this lemon tree. I bought this basil plant for the kitchen window and the other stems and plants you see here I picked up at either Hobby Lobby or HomeGoods.
The table behind the couch is a new addition, as are the ottomans. I am dying to get some more color in here, so I was super excited when I spotted this pair of ottomans at HomeGoods. The color and texture are perfect for this space and they are just what I needed to make fill in the empty space in the bay window under the table.
I bought the pink pillow, this blue pillow and this striped pillow a few months ago when I was planning our Christmas living room. I knew they would transition into spring home decor perfectly and I love them! I like the added touch of the leather pillow to add some warmth and introduce another texture to the room.
This little guy is too funny. Whenever I take pictures these days he follows me around and seems to sit right where I’m trying to shoot. Silly puppy! At least he likes to have his picture taken! 😉
I wanted this coffee table for so long but I never had a room to put it in. It was at the top of my list of things I needed when we moved into this house. I mean…how fun are those legs??!
The marble top on that little side table along with the interesting shape and brass base is a fun and different addition to the room. It’s a great price point too!
I am in love with this HomeGoods plant. The pot is super cute and the plant looks so life-like. I keep moving it from room to room trying to decide where it should be. I think this will be it’s permanent spot for awhile. I like the kind of wild movement…it adds some interest to the coffee table.
We still have a long way to go in here. I have window coverings/drapes and a whole wall where the piano sits to decorate. I need a few more lamps and some art and something for that far corner behind the wicker chairs…but it’s coming! 🙂 Be sure to check out the before of this space to see just how different it looks now!
