I get asked all the time where to eat, shop and play in Orange County when people come to town, so I thought it was about time that I do some posts about the place I love so much. Now that I am splitting time between SLC and OC, when I’m gone I REALLY miss the things I used to take for granted that were right down the street whenever I wanted them. I mentioned a few of my favorite brunch spots in this post, and now I thought it would be fun to do a post on what I consider to be the best home decor boutiques in Orange County. These are the places I frequent for both inspiration and beautiful home goods. Some of these home decor boutiques are a bit off the beaten path, but well worth a visit.
Juxtaposition Home – Nestled in a gorgeous shopping center in Newport Coast right along PCH with ocean views, you know this is going to be an expensive shop just from the location. Not to mention it shares a parking lot with Mastro’s. 😉 Yep, it’s pricey, but boy is it gorgeous! The pieces you see on Instagram in beautiful homes by talented designers can be found here. A mix of antiques and stunning unique items curated by the shops owners will have you wandering and browsing and dreaming. Such great inspiration and beautiful goods.
RJ Imports – I remember the first time I visited RJ I was not quite sure that Google Maps directed me to the right place. In a small industrial park across the train tracks in San Juan Capistrano, you aren’t sure at first if it’s a working warehouse or a super cool furniture store open to the public. Well, lucky you it is the latter. A giant space full of some of the prettiest rustic goods from around the globe. You will find uber cool furniture pieces here and lots of fun home accents at reasonable prices. A bonus, the staff is totally nice too! This has become one of my favorite places to style and shoot some of my magazine features. This Halloween shoot featured in Better Homes and Gardens was done there, as was a Wreath Workshop that is coming out in Better Homes and Gardens this fall.
503 Found – Lucky for me, the owners of 503 Found just recently added a second store not far from the 1987 Fixer Upper in Park City. When I can’t hit the local OC shop in Newport Beach, I can run over to it’s sister store and never be far from their fun collection of home decor.
Tuvalu Home – One of my very first favorite shops when we moved to OC many years ago. This Laguna Beach staple recently opened a second shop just down PCH in San Clemente too. I like to visit both. The cool coastal vibe is what I crave and I’d actually just like to move in to the store. 😉 Great home decor and gift items.
McGee & Co. – A new comer to OC, this darling, teeny shop is right across the street from one of my favorite donut shop and also one of my favorite brunch spots Plums Cafe. Housed in the old Heritage Mercantile retail space, it is everything Instagram dreams are made of. I love the chance to see and touch many of the items I order online for the 1987 Fixer Upper before I order them. Such a cute shop!
The Found Shop – This spot is definitely a bit of a drive for me, but I’ll head to Fullerton to check out what’s in store at this cute shop any day! Started by the talented Jenni from Found Vintage Rentals, you can find tons of cool antiques and pretty things for your home.
Blackband Design – This one is a fun little spot I found a few years ago that I’m not sure many people know about. Tucked back in an industrial park in Irvine by the airport is Blackband Design. If you follow them on Instagram, you know they do amazing design work. Well, along with their studio space, they also have a shop of sorts on the premises. I think it’s a lot of stuff that they pull for clients, all in a big space in their warehouse where you can go shop too. Often times when I go, I am the only person in the building. Just walk in to the reception desk and tell them you’d like to shop. They’ll take you back and turn on the lights for you so you can wander around and find some cute stuff. I think it’s a hidden gem.
Whether you live in Orange County, or are just visiting, these are great places to visit whenever you get a chance! I’d love to hear if you have any favorites I should know about!

These all look like such great places to shop. Maybe I need to make a trip to OC soon.
