Well, I’m a little late to the party this year…but better late than never, right? I told myself that I wasn’t going to decorate this year. Yep, you heard that right. I was going to go SUPER simple and low key…well, that lasted precisely until December 1oth when I just couldn’t handle it anymore and had to decorate every room in the house. It’s a disease I tell you. And what’s even funnier is that since I wasn’t in a huge rush and worried about home tours and deadlines, I actually decorated MORE this year than ever. lol! What’s wrong with me?! 😉 This week I’ll take you on a tour of the 1987 Fixer Upper all decked out for Christmas this year, in all her blue glory. We’ll start in the entry way today, then into the office tomorrow, and in the days to come, the living room, dining room, family room and kitchen. Here’s the entry way today, welcome and enjoy! 🙂

I have often used real, fresh garlands from Trader Joe’s or Costco for the stairway, but last year I found faux garlands from this shop that are fantastic and I don’t think that I’ll go back. They are easy to work with and look great. Depending on what type of pine look you like (cedar, spruce, etc.) They come in a 6′ length and then a really long length. I might try ordering that one next year and use my shorter lengths elsewhere in the house. This stairway uses 5 6′ garlands. You always need more than you think you do, so when in doubt, order an extra. You can always throw it across a table somewhere if you have extra.
For the little bit of swag at the baluster I used some 3″ wide blue wired satin ribbon, and two different colors of a blue cotton ribbon with frayed edges. I tied up these pretty bells to finish it off.
I went REALLY simple with the arrangement this year. This is a mix of pines from a $4 bunch at Trader Joe’s and these faux juniper stems. Trader’s is seriously are my go-to for all things floral. Such a great deal and so pretty! I love them in a wood pot. It’s so earthy and adds great texture. Here’s a really pretty one that’s on sale.
A straight on shot of that garland on the stairs…I wish I could leave these gorgeous greens up all year. They just make the house feel SO fresh and pretty.
These are the two art prints (this landscape and these anemonies) I have in the entry way all year round. As a matter of fact, most of this entry looks like this year-round, I just swapped out the things on the table and added the garland. These bells are a favorite and I use them all year. This new little art piece I got from one of my new favorite stores in Provo, Heirloom Art Co. Here’s a nearly identical one if you aren’t local to pick one up. I use these inexpensive ottomans all over the house in various shapes and colors. They come in super handy when you need some extra seating too!
Not the worst view when you have to sit in the office and work. 😉
