As my kids have gotten older, it’s been a little sad for me to watch as my son has lost interest in having big parties. Totally a normal teenage boy thing I know, but sad for this party loving mama. I have had to find ways to create something that still seems fun and cute but is appropriate for tween and teen boys…that’s a tough job! Girls are SO much easier in this department! Not too long ago we agreed on a movie night for friends. Here are the easy details so you can re-create this at home this summer for those late night movie nights with friends in a matter of minutes. 🙂
Boys love to eat, so I made sure the house was stocked with treats. This is a great and easy way to bring in color…skittles, red vines, and popcorn in cute popcorn boxes was easy and looked fun.
Cake is always a hit. It’s super easy and inexpensive to make and feeds an army. I made a family favorite lemon cake to bring out the fresh flavors of summer.
The colorful sodas mimicked the colors in the skittles and made the table look extra fun. I put them on ice in my trusty vintage style Coca-Cola cooler that I found at HomeGoods awhile back. I haven’t seen one lately, but you can find a similar one here. I always purchase my sodas at World Market (watch for sales…they are regularly $1.49 a piece, but when they go on sale you can find them for as low as $.69 a piece!)
Pop in a movie and you are all set to party!
I hope you are feeling inspired to entertain and realize that beautiful entertaining can really be fuss-free. 🙂
Here are a few other fun parties I have created if you are looking for other fun party ideas:
