Welcome to our Fall Home Tour! I was so excited when Marty from A Stroll Thru Life reached out to see if I was interested in participating in one of her wonderful home tours this year. She is such a great hostess and I enjoy looking at everyone’s tours each season, so I am doubly excited to be participating this year! 🙂 If you are new to my blog or joining me from Haneen’s Haven, welcome! Isn’t her style amazing? I absolutely love her home tour…so inspiring! It’s a pleasure to have you here. My design philosophy is all about creating a place where everyone feels welcome and comfortable. Where friends and family want to gather and stay for awhile. We may not have a large or fancy house, but it is filled with things we love and that have special meaning to our family. At the end of the post, you find links to all 30 fall home tours that will be happening this week, and you definitely don’t want to miss any of them!
Fall in Orange County honestly feels more like summer than anything else. September and October are typically the warmest months of the year here, so sometimes it is hard to really get that fall feeling. I’m hoping that the warm orange and yellow touches I have added to our everyday blue toned decor, will help us usher in that fall feeling. I hope you feel welcome and comfortable visiting our home and want to stay for awhile. 🙂
I LOVE mixing fresh fruits and vegetables into my decor all year long. Apples, oranges, pomegranates and other “hearty” fruits and vegetables make great centerpieces because they last for a long time and are beautiful.
Don’t be afraid to grab clippings from the yard too. A few boxwood branches and make a pretty, natural arrangement too.
I opted for white dishes a few years ago because they go with everything and every season. For seasonal decor, I often mix in new appetizer plates or bowls with my existing everyday ware that have fun patterns or colors on them. I loved the fun, neutral palette of these bowls and salad plates, and the fun patterns. I picked up these napkins too, to bring in some fun fall colors to my table.
This mirror is one of my favorite pieces. I bought it a few years ago…and if you are familiar with the blog then you are used to seeing it show up everywhere. 😉 This similar style is gorgeous too! That frame is another one of my favorites that finds it’s way around the house in every season. That was a HomeGoods find. A fall feather print, blue bowl, and my favorite blue books mixed with my orange gratitude journal, gives the mantel a fall feeling. I love the gratitdude journal being out and on display too. It helps me to remember to write in it daily.
These orange pillows are a fun texture which translates nicely into any season. I mix them in with some of my blue everyday pillows and this plush velvet pillow that has blues and oranges in it to tie everything together.
These no fuss feathers from Hobby Lobby make a pretty, fall looking arrangement that will last all season, don’t need any water, and can’t die. Perfect for me. I do not have a green thumb to say the least! 😉
Sunflowers are so pretty and they last forever too, so I love mixing them in to my fall decor. These books and accessories are things that I already owned, but usually spend most of their time in other rooms. It’s great to shop from your own home and mix up your accessories. It doesn’t cost a thing and can really make a room feel totally new and different.
Blankets in every room are a must for snuggling on the couch. I have baskets all over to house the blankets and keep everything looking neat. Plus, they make it easy to put the blankets away so my kids are more inclined to actually clean them up. 😉
Several years ago I had a mason com and put up this rock wall in our family room. We moved into a newly built home in a tract subdivision and I really wanted to make our home feel like it had more of a sense of history and had been around for a long time. It gives this room such a cozy feel. I just love it, even all these years later. We also have a big brown leather sectional. I LOVE the look of all the white couches that I see, but that just isn’t practical for our family right now with messy teenagers and little people over all the time. It’s easy to wipe off and, it doesn’t absorb yucky teenage boy smells quite as much. lol! Seriously, who knew they could be so stinky after playing sports? ha!
Can I just tell you that I actually squealed when I found this blue plaid chair? I’m sure people at the store thought I was nuts, but hey, I was excited! It has great brass nail heads and is as comfy as can be. It is the perfect office chair for our family room office nook where the kids do all their homework and I do all my work.
Do you have a copy of Emily Henderson’s book? It is one of my favorites. I have loved her since watching her on Design Star years ago (I wish they still did that show!) and it is so fun to read through whenever I have a few minutes of quiet time. I love to collect and decorate with vintage flea market finds and little trinkets from our travels, and her love of vintage makes me happy. That fun little powder tin is a find from a darling boutique in Amsterdam when we were there last summer. It was inexpensive and fit in my suitcase, so it was a perfect souvenir.
I’m still really happy with the chalk paint job I gave this little side table. It has held up quite well too with all the re-decorating that happens here.
Thanks for visiting our fall home tour! Now head on over to Lynzy and Co. to tour her beautiful, French Country Farmhouse style home that is just stunning! So fresh and cozy. You will love it!
