Master Bathroom Remodel Ideas : Master Bathroom Before and After

The area was carpeted, very dark with only had one small window in that entire back corner of the house, and was very basic with low sinks, builder grade faucets and lighting, etc.  I knew when I first walked through the house that it was a good amount of space, it just needed to be reconfigured and modernized.  Like the rest of the house I wanted to open it up, make it lighter and brighter and more user friendly.  Construction was a mess!

During Construction:

You might say we changed things just a little. 😉 This was the portion of construction where we could literally see through the entire house.  From the basement up three floors through the floors, through every single wall all the way down to the other end of the house…it was a disaster!  But exciting at the same time.  I just don’t recommend living through all of this.  We survived…but barely. 😉

There had been a strange, small, shallow closet at the top of the stairs that ate up some of the space I wanted to use for the bathroom, so we knocked that out.

I wanted the sinks to go along that wall, so that closet had to go.

Remember the privacy wall I talked about in the master bedroom?  That enabled us to make the closet a few feet bigger.  We also opened up the walls to make one big closet instead of two smaller closets and eliminated one of the doorways into the closet.  So much better!!  I’ll share more about the closet later. But you can see the new, wider single doorway here, the second doorway getting framed in, and the new window I added in the closet to brighten things up.

Master Bathroom After:

Ta-da!  What a difference, right?  I went with gray cabinets in here and the same Bella Statuario quartz countertops as in the kitchen.  I just love them.  I wanted a big shower and this 4×4 foot shower is perfect.  The gray cabinets are painted Repose Gray by Sherwin Williams, and the floors are the same wood that we used throughout the main floor and master bedroom.  It is engineered hardwood and totally fine to use in the bathroom.  We have it in the bathrooms in our Orange County house too, and love it.  It’s hard to tell in these images, but the tile is not a flat subway.  It has some texture to it, which helps it reflect the light in interesting ways and makes it look a bit more rustic.  I’ll list and link everything used in this master bathroom remodel at the bottom of the post.

The chandelier for over the tub has arrived…now it’s just a matter of installing it!  Give us a few months. 😉 .

This master bathroom remodel made SUCH a difference!  I can’t even believe it is the same amount of space.  Adding the windows and opening it all up made such a difference.  I love the calming colors and rustic elements like the pebble shower pan and wood floors.  We are very happy with how it all turned out.
