Master Bedroom Design: I’ve got a Blank Space, Baby

I have spent much of the past week organizing, clearing out and getting ready for some changes around here.  Our master bedroom has been begging for a little attention for a long time and it is finally time for a little face lift.   I have been searching Pinterest and Instagram for bedroom design ideas and I find that my favorite bedroom ideas all revolve around some sort of navy blue, amazing lighting and great drapes.

Right now this master bedroom is a pretty blank space, and I thought it might be fun if you guys help me design it…what do you think?  Starting next week I will be sharing favorite ideas and things I am mulling over purchasing and let you guys help me choose each of the pieces.  We will walk through the process together, share tips for picking the right pieces for your own space, and just have fun! 🙂

All the furniture is staying (except for maybe the bench), I want to add a headboard, and everything else is fair game! 😉  Please excuse the mess of pillows and blankets in the corner…real life behind the scenes! 😉

So, what do you think?  Are you up to the master bedroom design challenge?  I am excited to get started and watch the transformation of this bedroom!  Here’s a peek at another room in the house that’s getting a makeover.  More on this space coming soon! 🙂

Isn’t that chair from HomeGoods so cute?  I am in love with it!  I have been shopping for chairs forever!  There are so many cue ones on the market right now I was having the hardest time deciding.  I thought I wanted to use one of these in white, but then I was worried that it would blend into the woodwork too much.  This one is still one of my faves, but it was a little too big for the space.  Once I spotted the one above, it was love at first sight.  Here are some of my other current favorites…

I can’t wait to start this design project with you!

  1. Hi in the photo with the cute chair from Home Goods, I love the super light gray wall color, do you know what paint color it is and where you purchased it? Thanks!!!

    • Hi Alicia! That color is called Montpelier Ashlar Gray. It is a Valspar color from Lowes. I hope that helps! 🙂 I had it lightened 50%. 🙂 Have a great day!

  2. Can you please share your source for the apothecary-style cabinets that are on either side of the bed? Can’t wait to see what you do with this space!

    • Hi Sandy!
I purchased those at Thomasville several years ago and they are some of my favorite pieces of furniture! Unfortunately, I don’t think they sell that line anymore. Just a tip though, I found them in the dining section. They were intended to be used in a dining room as a small buffet, but I loved them in the bedroom! So, don’t limit yourself to the bedroom dept when you are looking for furniture! 🙂 Have a wonderful day!

  3. Love this room already! I, too, have been trying to prioritize the master bedroom and am crushing on Navy…and have gray walls…and am coveting your millwork… Can’t wait to see the reveal.
