Monday Musings and Week in Review

Hello Monday!  Today is a hard re-entry into real life.  We had the chance to sneak away for a few days to Scottsdale, AZ to soak up the sun and attend a work conference with John.  We always try to take the kids with us whenever possible so that we can enjoy some family time, and since my parents and sister live in AZ now, it was a great excuse to see grandma and grandpa too! 🙂

The conference was held at the beautiful Fairmont Scottsdale Princess resort.  Wow!!  It has been one of our favorite places to stay over the years, but it has had a face lift since the last time we visited and is even more gorgeous than ever!  The kids LOVE the pools and waterslides.  I love the peaceful grounds and beautiful rooms.

It was so nice of John’s company to treat the employees to fun activities and nice dinners.  With as hard as this move has been, and continues to be on all of us, his job is so great and that makes a HUGE difference!  It was also nice to be back in a land of Palm and Olive Trees and warm sunshine!  It has been what i would consider to be a relatively mild fall here in UT, but boy do I love some warm October weather and beautiful nights outdoors!  That is what I am used to! 🙂

The conference ended on Saturday, but with my parents and some other family members in town, we extended our stay through Sunday night which gave us the chance to visit with cousins and go to a neighborhood Halloween party.  Ash has been super excited to be a unicorn this year.

It was surprisingly easy to put together this costume and it turned out to be adorable!  The perfect Halloween costume for tweens!  We purchased these leggings, these pink leg warmers, this tutu, and this headband.  Once we added a white t-shirt and her favorite sparkle shoes that we already owned, she was all set! 🙂  We are going to add a white sweatshirt for trick or treating since it is supposed to be much colder here in UT than it was in AZ.

Andy went as a favorite Anaheim Ducks Hockey player.

While we were in town I had to swing by one of my favorite spots in Scottsdale…Kierland Commons.

restoration hardware scottsdale

They have lots of great shopping and dining, including a GORGEOUS 4 story, stand-alone Restoration Hardware.  They have a few of these around the country…have you seen them?  They are like these incredible mansions that have nothing but rooms and outdoor entertaining areas decked out in all of Restoration Hardware’s beautiful furnishings.  So fun to walk through…I want to just move in! 😉  We also checked out Creamistry…

It’s a cool ice cream place I’ve been reading about but have never been.  It’s a bit on the pricey side, but it is a labor intensive process to make each ice cream from scratch in front of you using Liquid Nitrogen.  It was pretty cool and the kids definitely would get a kick out of it.

A BIG decision that we made this week is to add another member to our family.  In just a few weeks we will be the proud pet parents of a bouncing baby boy…

I am nervous and excited all at the same time.  I will be really happy to have someone else to hang out with all day, that’s for sure!  And it doesn’t get much cuter than this!  We have started a family game to name him.  We are all so excited for some puppy snuggles.

Construction is winding down with only about two weeks worth of work left.  I can’t believe it!  With family coming for the holidays I have started to make some decorating decisions.  First, we are getting these levers for our door hardware.  I think they will compliment all the other hardware in the house nicely….

I think I am going to go with this pretty table for the entry way…I just need to measure and make sure it fits.  I LOVE this whole vignette by Lexi Westergard.  Aren’t those botanical prints from Etsy amazing???

I’m also considering these wishbone bar stools like the ones shown here in a Studio McGee kitchen for our island…they are either going there, or I’m getting them in chair form for the nook or dining room.  I just love that shape!

Well, I better go check on the tile work upstairs!  The kitchen backsplash is going in today along with a few other exciting additions.  I’ll have a major kitchen update later this week.  It’s long over due!

Have a wonderful Monday!
