Oh wow! Time flies when you’re having fun…or moving across the country. 😉 I cannot believe that I haven’t even had a minute to sit down and blog in the last 10 days. It has truly been a whirlwind around here! Moving was hard enough, but moving into an unfinished basement to live in during the middle of a complete gut-job renovation may not have been the smartest idea. 😉 If we make it through this in one piece, I’ll be grateful! We were sitting at dinner tonight talking about all of the craziness that is surrounding us right now and how hard life can feel sometimes and then lo and behold I heard a little Kelli Clarkson in the background singing “what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger” and I couldn’t help but think it must be a little heavenly message sent just for me at that moment. I didn’t know that heavenly messages came in the form of Kelli Clarkson, but apparently they do. 😉
When I say whirlwind, I mean it has been a whirlwind. We finally feel like we have made this little basement home of ours about as comfortable as it can get, and the kids are truly being AMAZING sports. Kids are so resilient, it’s incredible. A good reminder to both John and I to stay positive! 🙂 We have managed to sneak in a little bit of fun over the last few days. We had to take a bit of a break from house stuff and explore the beautiful mountains that we are lucky enough to live just a few minutes from. There are great free concerts up at Snowbird on Saturday nights, so we headed up to relax for a few minutes over the weekend. SO pretty!
Part of the fun of moving to a new area is, of course, exploring new restaurants. We have tried a few new places. First things first, we are on the hunt for a new favorite donut stop…
The donut shop has these awesome antique library cabinets that house the trays of donuts. LOVE!!!
Finding a decent Mexican spot is of course a TOP priority. This one was fun and not too bad, although replacing CA Mexican food is going to be muy dificil. 😉 (very difficult)
This is a big week for the house. The new windows are HERE and going in! Woohoo!! That means insulation and drywall inside and siding on the exterior are up next! It is starting to get put back together at this point rather than being torn apart. That is a BIG turning point! I’m starting to scramble to make finish decisions so that I can have everything here in time. I don’t want my indecision or lack of having the product to install to slow things down. I think I am going with these faucets…the only other ones I like look just like the ones from our CA house, and I want to do something at least a little different. We’ll most likely go with chrome.
The fireplaces went in last week. I love having a centered fireplace! 🙂 This is the newly added fireplace in the living room. Later this week I’ll show you the one in the family room. You can help me decide where the most important piece of furniture will reside in that room. It has to do with the fireplace as well. Stay tuned! 😉 It’s a big decision!
Oh these babies. I love them so much. I am seriously in awe of them everyday with their positive attitudes and cheery dispositions. I feel so blessed to be their mama. This has been tough on all of us and they are handling it like champs.
I can’t wait to get a chance to really sit down later this week and get back to the business of blogging. I think I’m realizing that going without getting a chance to sit down and write for a long period is hard on me. This is actually quite cathartic for me to get a chance to recap life and chat design and fun things that I love with you all, so thanks for listening! 😉
I hope you have a wonderful day!
Tammy
