Summer Home Decor Tour

School is out and the days are long and hot which can only mean one thing…SUMMER! Welcome to our Summer Home Decor Tour! I love teaming up with Marty from A Stroll Thru Life and participating in her fun home tours each season. She is such a great hostess and I really enjoy seeing how everyone switches up their decor for the season. If you are new to my blog or joining me from Marty’s beautiful summer home decor tour over at A Stroll Through Life, welcome! Isn’t Marty’s home so beautiful and inviting?  This new home of hers has sure undergone a lot of exciting changes in the last 6 months.  It’s a pleasure to have you here.  Summer home decor in our house is all about cool, casual style that is effortless and comfortable…designing a space that feels light and breezy, and is easy to keep clean with kiddos home all day. This is a special home tour for me. It is our last home tour in this house (at least for a while). We are packing up the house and moving at the end of this week. We are turning our home over to some wonderful people who we are assured will take great care of it until our return. I hope you enjoy this tour and feel welcome! We spend a lot of our time during the summer, traveling and spending days at the pool.  I found these darling bathing beauties at HomeGoods and I just think they are too cute for this time of year.  I also mix up the mantel a bit, bringing in artwork that includes maps of places we have traveled together and pictures I have taken of the kids in various locations that we have visited.

The kitchen is an ongoing battle to keep clean all summer with hungry kids constantly eating.  I typically remove all of the decor from the island and counters this time of year to help minimize clutter.

Sometimes the wicker chairs from the living room find a new home in the family room for the summer.  I just love the summery vibe they add to the room.  Cool hues of blue and gray on the pillows make the giant leather sofa feel more airy and light.

I just love this little whale I found at HomeGoods.  He’s the perfect addition to our summer shelfie, along with one of my favorite blue vases and a great snake plant that brings some great color and outdoor freshness, and bonus…I have kept it alive for over a year now! 😉

When we are traveling I try to collect souvenirs that I can use back at home in my decor that are subtle reminders of places we’ve been.  This beautiful shell is one of those treasures.  I picked it up at a flea market in Hawaii a few years ago.

A big part of summer is the outdoor living too, right?  So I like to spruce up the backyard and get it ready for bbq’s, bonfires and summer afternoon napping. 😉
