Happy Tuesday! I love a good 3-day weekend because the week following seems so short! How was your weekend? We celebrated with a mix of some small town and big city celebrations. Every year Provo celebrates the season with a huge line-up of patriotic events called Freedom Fest. I’ve heard about it for years, but it was lots of fun to actually participate in it this year. Saturday night was the Stadium of Fire with Tim McGraw, an incredible fireworks show, and a street dance party after.
We had attended five years ago when we first moved to Utah, and this year we decided to sit outside the stadium and listen and watch the fireworks. Dare I say I actually liked the party outside better than when we sat inside a few years ago? Sitting on the grass listening to the music and enjoying the atmosphere with people gathered all around was really nice and relaxing.
Sunday night as part of the Freedom Fest, there was an uplifting patriotic service where they honored veterans, people who are currently serving our country in all different ways and through all different organizations, great speakers and fantastic music. I LOVE patriotic music, so this was a highlight for me for sure! It was awesome to gather with 20,000 other people and celebrate our wonderful country.
I couldn’t believe my eyes when we headed home after the Patriotic service. University Avenue was literally lined with tents and chairs and thousands of people preparing to camp overnight to secure their spot for the parade in the morning. Apparently it is the largest of it’s kind in the Western US. Pretty impressive!! It was definitely a party atmosphere and looked like tons of fun! We will definitely have to join in the fun next year!
Of course I spent some quality time online shopping up a storm. So many great sales…which we haven’t seen for a bit, so it was nice to find some deals. Lots of the sales continue on today! Here are some of my favorites:

We had planned to stay in Provo all weekend and I had even signed up to participate in the Freedom Run on Monday morning…my first 5K! And then…the AC went out at the house. We thought we could tough it out, but by midnight it was 90 degrees inside and we decided to head back to SLC so we could get some sleep.
Yesterday was Sam’s birthday! We treated him to all of his favorite things and had a fun time taking the boys out on the town…
Starbucks Puppachinos and In-n-Out Puppy Patties for the birthday boy and his cute brother.
Food is definitely the best motivator to get cute shots of the pups! 😉 Is he looking at the camera…or the hamburger Ash is hanging over my head? lol! 😉
Of course we had to get them some matching flag bandanas. 🙂
I wish I had a video of their cute fluffy tails wagging frantically in unison when they saw the hamburgers come out! lol!
I am TERRIBLE of taking pictures of people on holidays! Anyone else?! So, I’m trying to get better and make sure that we at least get a few selfies.
A highlight of the day was for sure talking to my cute missionary! I can hardly believe that I only talk to him TWO more Mondays before I get to SEE him in person. WHAT?! That is crazy to me!!!! To say I’m excited is a complete understatement!
We ended our night heading up to one of John’s favorite trails with spectacular views of the entire Salt Lake Valley to watch thousands of fireworks shows all over the city. It was beautiful!
And now it’s back to my regularly scheduled program….getting the house ready for Andy in 2 weeks!!! Woohoo!! Lots to do!!
I hope you have a great week!
