What a week! Can you believe that it was just Halloween a week ago today? I don’t know why, but to me it seems like it was already a month ago. Time just seems to be going faster and faster these days. Am I the only one that feels like that?
HALLOWEEN FUN
Ash and John kicked their Halloween celebrations off a little early on Saturday night by heading to LA for the Harry Styles concert. They bought tickets months ago and had been anticipating this day for a long time.
It was fun for them to get to go have a memorable daddy daughter date.
Monday was busy, busy. I made some chili and cornbread (recipe coming soon!) for dinner per Ash’s request for Halloween dinner.
I used to always make a spooky dinner like this one for our trick or treating bunch…but with just the three of us and no one trick or treating in our family for the first time this year, we decided to simplify.
Does your neighborhood get tons of trick or treaters? Ours gets mobs of kids, and I LOVE it!!! This area has always celebrated Halloween like crazy…haunted houses, block parties, decorated yards like it’s Christmas…you name it!
There are even houses with hot dog stands, photo booths and making fresh popcorn and other treats. It is definitely a party that I don’t want to miss. We were over-run this year once again and it just makes my heart happy!
You can tell how John feels about handing out candy to the masses…lol!! 🙂
We sat on the porch with our cute little doe and ate dinner and watched the chaos while we passed out candy. It was awesome.
We even got lucky and the cute neighbor kids decided to give us a concert on the driveway next door. They were really good and it was fun to have live music to go along with everything else.
WALKING
This past 2 years I have been walking…a lot. I haven’t been quite as consistent lately, but for most of these past two years I’ve been walking 6-10 miles a day, 7 days a week. I decided during Covid to take more control over my health and do something good for myself. It has made such a difference in my life. I still start most every day of the week with a nice long walk.
I have a very supportive family and friends to thank for helping me reach some goals.
Many more to go…but I”m kind of addicted now. It makes my day SO much better to get out and spend some time in the sun, doing something good for myself and chatting with friends and family. It has truly been life changing. These beautiful crisp fall days are some of my favorites to get out and enjoy this beautiful world.
DATE NIGHT
John and I squeezed in a date night on Friday and enjoyed dinner at one of my favorite spots here in Irvine called Angelina’s Pizzeria.
Angelina’s makes all kinds of delicious Italian food and I am a sucker for a good pizza and Caprese salad. I love the spicy Diavola pizza too.
Have you seen Ticket to Paradise? Certainly not the best movie I’ve ever seen, but it was cute and I love a romantic comedy…especially one with Julia Roberts.
Bonus…we got to see it in my favorite little neighborhood theater.
FAMILY TIME
With John heading back to UT on Sunday, we spent the day all together enjoying the harbor, grabbing brunch and taking Ash shopping at Fashion Island. Or should I say dreaming at Fashion Island? 😉 That girl loves pretty dresses…unfortunately many of them are a little out of her price range… 😉 but trying them on is fun and free!
It was SUCH a gorgeous day down on the water. I can’t resist a photo wall. 😉
These are NOT good pictures, but I have to share my FAVORITE brunch spot in OC. Plums Cafe on 17th in Costa Mesa/Newport Beach is absolutely worth the hour or longer wait on the weekends. The Santa Fe Eggs Benedict is divine…with a spicy hollandaise and the most incredible homemade english muffins and thinly shaved ham. Delish!!
We can’t resist getting something sweet to share too…these lemon blueberry pancakes with lemon curd are divine.
Fancy dresses are Ash’s favorite and this blue shimmery one is on her Christmas list. She’ll have to keep dreaming, but is sure is pretty for an adult going to a holiday party!
This coat made out of Liberty fabric is just the cutest! Love the color too! And it’s 30% off…even better!
This darling skirt is 50% off and comes in all kinds of fun plaid patterns too. SO cute! She just might find this one under the tree. 😉
Of course after she tried on a few things, I had to hit my favorite spot, Anthropologie. Have you ever been to the one at Fashion Island? If not, next time you’re in town you have got to stop in! It is incredible!
These wood house candles are the cutest! I want to combine a few with these wooden tree candles in our Christmas decor this year.
They all smell so good…but if you are looking for the most AMAZING smelling holiday candle…(besides my favorite cedar one) this one is DIVINE!! It’s called spiced cider and wow. SO yummy!!
Watching the last sunset before day light savings time over the ocean was a great way to end the day.
It’s hard for me to believe that this week is the 2nd week of November already! I better start dragging out the Christmas decor. I’m already feeling behind this year!
I hope that you have a wonderful week.
Tammy
