Week in Review

How was your week? We had the most incredible storm this week. It’s been a long time coming for so Cal, and it was really awesome to get a ton of rain. We got 4 inches in our area…that is INSANE for us. As much as I don’t love winter, I do love a good storm. I especially love the ones here in OC because they blow in, do their thing, and then it’s sunny and beautiful again the next day. It give us just enough time to cozy up, watch some Hallmark movies and bake…and then it’s back to nice and warm. 😉

Speaking of baking…of course I had to whip up some cookies while it was raining cats and dogs. I LOVE oatmeal cookies and I’m always on the hunt for the best recipe.

These iced oatmeal ones were pretty yummy…but I did have to add some raisins. Recipe coming soon!

I also made some delicious chicken pot pie soup. Soup and cookies…the perfect rainy day meal! 😉

I missed walking Monday and Tuesday due to the rain, so I was anxious to get back out on Wednesday. The skies are always SO gorgeous the day after it rains!

Ash and I have been desperate to cram in all the holiday festivities we can in OC before we head back to the cold and snow. I know it’s early, but fortunately our favorite decorations are starting to pop up in a few places. With Friday being a holiday, Thursday night felt like the weekend, so we hit the spectrum with Jack & Jill for dinner and to goof around and check out the tree. Such a gorgeous night!

If you’re ever in the area, the Irvine Spectrum is a fun place to walk around, shop and grab a bite to eat.

How cute is this cookie house kit I saw? I am definitely a beach house gingerbread house kind of girl 😉

John came back into town on Friday night, so Ash headed to a local high school CIF football game and I grabbed him from the airport and we grabbed a bite at on of our favorite Mexican spots, Flamingos. Such yummy food. It’s a family owned place that we’ve been visiting for years. The owner is there EVERY night and we know the staff by name. It’s always fun to visit…and eat the BEST chips and salsa!!

Saturday I spent much of the afternoon prepping for a fun little campaign I’m working on. That meant some serious Saturday shopping! Here are a few things I picked up…

I can’t wait to share the pictures with you next week! 🙂

Saturday we spent the afternoon driving along the coast and walking around Balboa Island and Corona del Mar.

I would love to live here and walk every night. It’s such a fun, friendly place.

Not to mention, there are SO many pretty houses. They are extra pretty at the holidays. We ended up at our favorite cozy spot for dinner…The Side Door.

It is the coziest spot with fireplaces and a very English Pub-like atmosphere. We love to visit especially this time of year.

Ash made the CUTEST cupcakes for a party this weekend. How darling are these??? Follow along with her at @tinybirdbakeshop to see all her fun creations.

Alright, I’m off to clean, cook and decorate. There are some busy weeks coming up!! I can’t wait for all the fun. Have a great week! 🙂
