Week in Review

Oh what a week it’s been. This was the week I officially became an empty nester. There’s been a lot of build up in my mind to this day, but nothing can compare to the actual feeling of leaving your baby behind at a dorm, knowing you’re going home to an empty house. I’m struggling to deal with the emotions of it all. Ash has been my total sidekick, attached at the hip pretty much her whole life, but this last three and half years has been intense. With Andy being out of the house and covid and homeschooling, we really haven’t been apart…like ever. Not even during a regular day. We spend every second together and LOVE it. So yeah. This is a BIG change. Fortunately for her, she ended up with a wonderful roommate situation and is leaving me for tons of friends and fun, but for me…I’m just lonely now. 😉

We moved her in last weekend on a freezing, snowy day, just in time for school to start Monday. All the pictures for her wall weren’t ready just yet and I didn’t think that I wouldn’t be back to take pictures, so I just grabbed this quick iphone picture of her room half done, but it’s all I’ve got. 😉

We need an iron. 🙂 It is such a different experience moving her in vs. moving Andy in. She was very particular with what she wanted and where she wanted it placed. Andy on the other hand could have cared less. lol. So typical. We can’t do much in these rooms…no tape or command strips or adhesive of any kind on the walls. No holes or nails, no curtains, etc. I could only think of how cute we could make it…oh well, she’s only there for a few months. 😉 We found some pretty pink bedding and a rug to match. I added a headboard that we kind of rigged to get it to stay in place. I just  think it will be way more comfortable to have a cushioned headboard to lean against while she studies than a hard cinderblock wall behind her…and it was under $60!

Me and the boys were feeling a little out of sorts after we were left alone. 😉 Jack might have been having the hardest time…

The good news is that Andy decided to move into the Alumni house and is now my roomie when I’m there. Thank heavens I have some company! 😉 The first day of school I made him take a quick pic before he left the house…which I’m sure he loved, but is a really good sport. 😉

Ash sent me a cute first day of school selfie. Love these kiddos!

It snowed ALL week. SO. MUCH. SNOW!!! So far I have hosted Sunday dinner twice for 20 and a football party for 25. I LOVE having all the college kids around! I always love hosting parties and this gives me a chance to party all the time!

Ash came by the house to take a few pictures of cupcakes on Wednesday. I’ll take any chance I can get to see that cute girl! She’s working really hard to build her brand as she studies at the business school. Have you seen her new blog? She’ll be sharing all kinds of fun things over there…recipes, tutorials, you name it! Go check it out! Tiny Bird Bakeshop

I’m trying to stay busy getting all the loose ends tied up at the Alumni House and starting to get it decorated finally! I had a wallpaper guy over the other day to get things rolling there. I can’t wait to get some fun things up on the wall. This is the design plan from the very beginning and we’re still headed that direction.

The kitchen is SO close! Here’s a peek…

Between getting the house finished I’m spending time hosting all kinds of college get togethers. So far this week we’ve hosted and fed 44 kids at football parties and Sunday dinners. I’m doing my best to keep my nest full. 🙂

Now I just need to decide what I want to be when I grown up. 😉

Wish me luck!

Have a great week!
