Weekend Recap

Happy Monday!  How was your weekend?  With Mother’s day yesterday and the school year wrapping up in just two weeks, our weekend was full of family activities, sports banquets and very needed haircuts.  Andy cracks me up.  He is usually an “I need my hair cut every 4 weeks” kind of kid, but lately he has been letting his hair grow.  He said it was his lucky charm for the Ducks, who are currently in the middle of playoff season.  Well, after a few months of no haircut, he finally caved yesterday and told me that he couldn’t take it any more.  He had to have it cut.  He didn’t think that the Ducks would make it this far. 😉  lol!  Funny kid.  I didn’t mind, because it meant I had an extra handsome boy for Mother’s day.

I even made everyone take a few family pictures.  It was SO windy, and I was using a tripod and a timer…so these are not the best pictures of me after running back and forth, but oh well.  At least I remembered to take some.  As much as  I love taking pictures, remembering to get pictures of my family, especially pictures with me in them, is not always my strong suit.  😉

Friday John and I managed to run to a few tile shops in the afternoon, and then sneaked in a date night in Laguna Beach.  I just love having the beach down the street.  That is going to be a BIG change for me when we move.  There are so many fun shops and restaurants there, and it is always lively…year round.  I have to get as many more visits in as I can before we move!

If you find yourself in Laguna Beach, make sure you visit La Sirena Grill.  It is one of my favorite spots for fish tacos, and they seriously have THE BEST guacamole on the planet!

We are getting close to picking the tile for at least one of the bathrooms… I think we’re going to go with this one in the guest bath, .  I’ll probably do a large walk in shower with white subway tile and dark grout.  What do you think?  I met with the cabinet guy last Wednesday when I was in Utah and I want to do something fun with the laundry room.  I think I’m going to do light gray cabinets with brass hardware and probably this floor tile.  It comes in gray too, so I’ll be using the gray version.

Saturday was Andy’s volleyball banquet.  Boy did this school year fly by.  I feel like I was just taking his first day of school pictures (yes, I still make him do that 😉 , and now here we are at the end of the year.  These next couple of years of high school are going to go by WAY too fast.  It was such a fun season watching him grow as a player.

Yesterday was a wonderful day spent at church and hanging with the fam.  I was surprised with gorgeous PoseyPop flowers and handmade cards.  I feel quite spoiled this week because I was the recipient of two PoseyPop arrangements in just one week.  Aren’t these SO gorgeous?!  They are honestly my favorite gift to receive.  SO much happiness in one vase!

I whipped up a new favorite salad for lunch after church…this one will be hitting the blog asap…it is a recreation of the one I always order when we go out to dinner.  It is SO good!

After lunch we headed out on a little hike with our favorite peeps.  Top of the World is a gorgeous trail in Laguna if you are every looking for a great spot to hike.  Endless views of the ocean on one side and all of Orange County on the other.  There is a wonderful park there too for the kids to play if they aren’t in the mood to hike.  There are lots of different trails, something for every level of hiker.  We’ll definitely be back to try some new trails!

I can’t believe it’s time to start another week.  Time truly does fly.  It is sure to be another whirlwind with school performances, finals starting, and somebody might have a birthday this week.  😉

I’m working on more house updates this week, so stay tuned!  Have a great day, friends!
