I love to decorate for Halloween almost as much as I do for Christmas. We are about to break out all the Halloween decorations around here this week and things will start to get a bit creepy. The weather has really taken a turn and it is definitely cooling way down, which makes Halloween decorating feel even more exciting. There are so many cute home decor products that you can use for Halloween…and many of them are everyday decor items that you can transition to regular decor the rest of the year. I am always on the hunt for cute indoor Halloween decorating ideas, and I don’t ever like to do anything too gross or scary. I do however, like it to have just the right amount of creepy.
Crows are one of my favorite decorations for Halloween. I love the subtle nod to the Alfred Hitchcock classic The Birds. It’s creepy and cool and doesn’t take much effort…just place them all over the house so they can watch you all month long. π
Spiders are always creepy in my book, so they are the perfect and easy way to add an instant Halloween feel to any spot in the house. Here’s an example of an inexpensive way to make the mantel super spooky for about $2. I simply used a bag of plastic spiders and some double sided tape for this installation.
I incorporate lots of black and gray into my normal decor anyway, so I tend to gather up all of the black, and galvanized metal home decor I’ve got into one spot and start my decorating from there. I mix in some orange and natural textures and give subtle nods to Halloween decor all over the house. Black pots, books, trays, and urns are a great items to start with.
Indoor Halloween decorations don’t have to be expensive or complicated. These cute construction paper bats make an awesome mantel, and below, torn fabric strips in different patterns and textures make a cool DIY Halloween garland that anyone can make in minutes and for just a few dollars.
I like to add a few things to my collection of Halloween decor items each year. I think it’s fun to add over time to get a collected feel, and I definitely have some favorites that have been around for a long time. If you are looking for some cute indoor halloween decorating ideas, here are some products I’ve got my eye on. Click on any image for more information about the product. Some of my favorite spots to check for cute Halloween home decorating ideas and decor are:
Pottery Barn – they have some really cool stuff. I get asked about my black iron candelabras ALL the time and those were PB finds from several years ago.
Target – their Hyde and Eek collection is cute. Some of the stuff is plastic-y looking, but you can find some gems like felt garlands and yearly needs like spider webs and spiders.
HomeGoods – start looking early! Their Halloween stuff hits shelves usually in early August and disappears quickly. You can find some awesome pieces here.
Hobby Lobby – faux pumpkins, lanterns and all kinds of fun party stuff.
Michaels – my go-to spot for my favorite black crows.
Crate and Barrel – fun modern Halloween decor and kitchen gadgets.
I hope these cute Halloween products and decorating ideas make it easy for you to put something fun together this year at your house. You can check out all of our fun Halloween ideas here in the Halloween gallery.
