Ideas for a beautiful Christmas Table Setting

cute christmas dishesDo you host for the holidays?  I have lucked out these last few years and not hosted Thanksgiving or Christmas.  It’s funny, because I love to host…don’t get me wrong, but there is something really nice about being able to truly relax and enjoy the holidays without the chaos of making everything.  Just because I don’t host, doesn’t mean I don’t like to dress up the table for my own little family though.  As a matter of fact, we have our own family Thanksgiving here at home just so that we get a chance to use fun dishes and have leftovers…that is the best part after all, right? 😉  Turkey sandwiches for days!

I am a total sucker for all things kitchenware…especially when it comes to picking out new dishes and accents for our holiday tables.  My go-to dishes are this white set.  They are SO versatile.  Great for everyday or dressing up with fun dessert or appetizer plates, I consider them a must-have for every kitchen.  Here are a few other gorgeous sets if you are in the market for some this holiday season. Some of them are serving sets for one with four pieces, and some of them are service for 4 to 12 people, the larger service sets come with some serving pieces. They are all classic designs that are timeless.

One of the things I love about white dishes is that they go with ANYTHING.  You can mix and match them with other white pieces to complete a set without it looking awkward.  You can pair them with colorful appetizer or salad plates for holidays and celebrations.  You can add in different serving pieces in colors or silver or gold for different occasions…the possibilities are endless.  And, they go with all table styles and table linens.  If you don’t feel like investing in a whole 4 piece set for each person, you can pick up one of these great buffet sets of 10 white plates to get you started.  These are perfect for entertaining.

For the holidays I love to mix my plates with colorful napkins, runners and chargers.  Mixing patterns and colors is a tricky thing to do, so I have put together a few sets for you that would all work well together.  I typically gravitate toward more neutrals for Thanksgiving, maybe because I like to be more bold at Christmas.  Here are some fun combinations I would put together for Thanksgiving.  Really, any combination of napkin, plate and charger from this group would work well together.  Don’t be afraid to mix patterns and be a little wild!

When it comes to Christmas, I like to bring in COLOR!  Here are a few groupings that I would put together for a fun and unexpected mix of runners, chargers, plates and napkins…

If you know me, you know I LOVE blue. Here are some of my favorites if you plan on having a blue, blue Christmas. 😉 Great for Hannukah too! Something about Blue and Silver makes my heart happy. Really, you can use these any time of year. And that hand painted Polish pottery like the first serving bowl??!! GORGEOUS!! I actually own some of these pieces that I carted home from Europe with me this summer. They are STUNNING!

Love these chalkboard plates.  They make putting together a fun and non-traditional red and green table easy!

Finally, my favorite red classics…

Mix and match these fun sets of salad plates, serveware, chargers and linens with your classic white plates and you are sure to have one of the best looking tables on the block.

Happy hosting!
