I absolutely cannot believe that we are headed into September! This year has been such a blur. Do you feel the same way? With the world basically coming to a halt in March, all of our habits and activities have changed, and most of this year has felt like groundhog day if I’m being honest. 😉 I saw a funny thing the other day when kids were headed back to school. A friend posted that her son said “I can’t believe spring break is over!” HA! That about sums it up! With school coming to a swift end right as spring break was starting, it has felt like an endless spring break or summer for sure! And now here we are heading into FALL!! Crazy! Usually I am not ready to give summer up, but this year I am feeling ready for the change…a chance to feel like some time is passing, even if my regular everyday life feels like it’s on repeat. lol! With a fall tour on the calendar in a few weeks, I’ve been pulling together some ideas for the family room. Having the built-in now has been a game changer for this room! I am excited to put together some fall family room design ideas.
tray | yellow pillow | flax pillow | pampas grass | mirror | chair | berry pillow | rug | landscape art | sconce | flower art | pharmacy lamp | vases | olive tree | painting | coffee table | basket | black pot
All of the furniture and the rug in the family room are staying right now. We are getting a PUPPY tomorrow (I know, we’re crazy!) so I am not changing those big pieces for another few months until we are out of the chewing and accidents stage. 😉 This fall look will be more about changing up the accessories and bringing in fall textures. Cozying things up in preparation for cooler temperatures and nights by the fire. 🙂
Here’s a look at what’s in the fall family room design plan for this year…
BRING IN NATURAL ELEMENTS
I have been seeing these pretty pampas grass bundles everywhere and I love them, so these pretties are going in a big, rustic pot on the mantel. They will play well off of the natural grass shades we finally just had installed. No more paper blinds! I am so excited! 🙂
COZY THROWS
Lots of throws are a must on the couch around here with temperatures quickly dipping into the 30s in the evenings come fall. I love a super chunky throw to add texture and I’m also a sucker for plaid in the fall.
NEW WARMER PILLOWS
As much as I try to think that I can keep everything neutral around here, I am such a sucker for color! I had to pick up these deep berry colored pillows to mix in with this mustard pillow that I’m having made in a 12×26 size. I’ll be adding these pillows to some blues and tans for a rich fall feel.
FAUX PLANTS
Greenery is a must in any room I’m designing and I have become a bigger fan of faux as they have become more and more realistic looking. I need a tree for the corner of the room and this one is just perfect.
ARTWORK
Have you seen the new fall line from Studio McGee for Target? I’m probably cutting it close for the fall family room, but there is so much good artwork I am hoping some of it will arrive in time for the fall tour. Either way, this is what I’ll be adding to the built in and mantel as soon as it is in stock. 🙂 This pretty flower print with the moody blue background is so pretty! This landscape is gorgeous too. I purchased the one from her last collection and I am obsessed. The quality is SO good! Especially for the $18 price tag! This whole collection goes on sale the September 13th, and it WILL sell out. So pick out your faves now and be ready to grab them! 🙂
There you have it! The fall family room design plan for 2020. yay! I think it will come together well and I’m super excited for these rich colors for a season, I’m up for some big changes everywhere! I can’t wait to share the completed room with you.
