One of the rooms in this Utah house that has been neglected is the guest bedroom that gets the most use. We have a small guest bedroom that works well when kids come to stay, and I love it because it feels cozy, but this larger guest bedroom at the back of the house has an en suite bath that makes it much more comfortable for families and couples that stay. It’s also grandma and grandpa’s guest room, so we want to make it special. 😉
Now that we are getting around to finishing up a lot of spaces that haven’t been touched since we finished the remodel, I’m starting to search for fresh and modern guest bedroom ideas that will feel warm and inviting. I bought a navy blue bed when we first moved in…and we have some nightstands already in there, so I’m working with those existing pieces and building around them to build the perfect guest room. ;). Here is the design board I pulled together of my guest bedroom ideas for this fresh and modern space.
We have a king bed in this guest bedroom so I found a navy blue bed that I love. This headboard is perfect if you have a king bed like us, and this one is super affordable if you have a queen, full or twin bed. It’s a great price and I really like the color it adds to the room. I have white sheets and a white duvet that we will use in here as well. These pillows are some of my favorite fabric and will look fun against the blue headboard. I want to find a cute lumbar to go in here too.
This dresser! It has been on my list for a long time. With the blue bed and natural color nightstands, I think it will be a good fit. I love that I can use it as a sideboard or in other rooms in the house too later and it will add a fun punch of color anywhere it goes. I’ll put this mirror over it. I have used this mirror in different finishes all over the house. I love it! I might do something fun, like a collage of some sort, with the mirror and art and our frame TV over the dresser to so that guests have a mirror to use in the morning and a TV to watch in the evenings.
Did you know that Rifle Paper Co is making rugs? I might have been living under a rock, but I LOVE everything she does and now I am obsessed with this rug! I think it will be the perfect addition to this guest bedroom.
I will add some drapes (tbd!) 😉 and more accessories, but for now, these guest bedroom ideas and decor will help the room be welcoming for guests and functional for me the rest of the year. I can’t wait to share the finished room with you! The furniture pieces are on their way and it will all come together soon!
I hope you are feeling inspired by these guest bedroom ideas to turn a maybe otherwise neglected bedroom into a fresh and modern guest bedroom for company. Be sure to PIN this image so you can find it again when you are looking for guest bedroom ideas.
