I don’t know about you guys, but it always seems to me like the rooms that are used the most are often the last to be finished. This was definitely true with the Midway Modern Farmhouse master bedroom design. We had the master bedroom design ideas all ready to go, it was just the last bedroom design to actually get pulled together. Different pieces of furniture were backordered and slow in getting on site and so when the family first used the house…it wasn’t complete. I was excited to get there to take pictures and see that everything had finally arrived and was looking SO good!! The master bedroom in this house is HUGE. Even as big as it is now, it was bigger before we started. It’s not often that I will take space AWAY from a room, but when Kathleen and I first walked in the room we KNEW that a funny little corner in the room had to go. The space would be much better used in the adjoining closet and adding that space to the closet would give us the chance to make the master bathroom MUCH more user friendly. We had lots of master bedroom design ideas for this house, but the must have in here was a spa-like and relaxing retreat. Let’s face it…when you are hosting your 10 kids and their families, all in one spot…you need a little spot to retreat! 😉
Master Bedroom Before:
I always love to see a good before and after, so let’s take a look at where we started with this master bedroom remodel so you can get an idea of how these modern master bedroom ideas came about, shall we? 🙂
So this is the weird little area I was talking about that had to go. That spot where the door is is a second access point to the closet. All that cut-out area, was valuable space that the small closet really needed…and the bedroom didn’t.
We walled it over and added that space to the closet instead…
The rest of this room was pretty cosmetic. Removing the dated trim, changing the carpet, the paint and adding fresh furniture and finishes. I’m in love with the way it turned out. What do you think?

Quite the change, right? It’s amazing how you don’t necessarily have to change much structurally to completely change the look of a room! It’s like night and day in here! 🙂
