Home and Family Crafts : DIY Garland for Game Night Party

I am always looking for fun and easy DIY ideas, especially fun things that have to do with parties and entertaining. We have seen a serious uptick in game playing here at our house this week as quarantine is becoming more routine. I’m sure you guys are experiencing something similar at your homes. Game nights are always fun to do with friends and family, and it’s even more fun if you can turn it into a party! Our recent game playing inspired this home and family craft, that will hopefully be a fun DIY for you to do.

I told John that if anyone asked me what I was doing today, I was going to reply that I was printing money. 😉 I wanted something easy and colorful that went with a game night theme, so I decided to whip up my own play money, and I think it turned out pretty cute if I do say so myself. 😉

I really try to make all of my DIY home and family crafts super simple and inexpensive with ultra cute results. I want everyone in the family to be able contribute and participate in making things and I don’t want you to have to have a bunch of special supplies to complete them.

This free printable play money fits that bill for sure! Each of the pages has a little bit of color to it if you WANT to print them in color, but you can easily print them all in black and white like I did here. The trick to making this play money really look like a monopoly type money is to print it on colored office paper. You definitely don’t need a ton of sheets of paper. This pack of 100 sheets in 5 assorted colors would be plenty! It would be awesome in these neon colors too.

Print as many sheets of money as you need to play your game or make your garland. I printed out one sheet in each color and it was plenty of money to make a long garland. Once you print out your play money, simply cut it out (perfect job for kids) and then I stacked them in color order (blue, pink, yellow, green, orange repeating…another good job for kiddos) so that it would be easy to assemble the garland.

To assemble this easy DIY home and family craft garland, simply take a long stretch of twine (this is the one I like to use) and some scotch tape. Tape the twine to the back of a bill and then leave about 2-3″ of twine before you tape another bill on.

How easy is that?

Once you have taped as many pieces of play money onto your twine to make a garland as long as you’d like, you are all set to hang it up and enjoy!

I mean…pretty cute, right?  I love how colorful it is! It works perfectly for any game night.
