Happy New Year! I hope you all had a wonderful holiday season. It’s always amazing to me when it seems like we spend countless hours preparing for the holidays over a period of several months, and then poof! it’s all over in the blink of an eye. A new year often brings with it the hope of exciting things ahead, the feeling of a fresh start, and a sense of adventure. I have been keeping a bit of a secret as I have spent the last month trying to process the adventure that is ahead for our family in 2017. And now the secret is out…we are moving! John recently had an opportunity presented to him that was too good to pass up, so we are packing our bags (or a few large moving trucks) and heading north to Salt Lake City, UT for a bit of an adventure. Born and raised in So Cal, this is a little bit of a shock to my system, but I also know it will be a fun chance to try something new and explore new territory. Plus, a new home to decorate doesn’t seem like the worst thing in the world. 😉 With a quick and inexpensive flight back to Long Beach and our OC home in good hands here, I don’t feel like I am completely cutting ties, which helps tremendously too. 😉 Over this next year I will be sharing our journey hunting for and buying a home, a possible renovation, packing and moving across the country, and getting settled in a new place. If you are a Utah friend, please say hi! It’s been a long time since I’ve moved, and the older I get and more settled I am, the more picking up and moving and starting over seems a bit scary and unsettling…and to be completely honest…totally overwhelming and quite terrifying, actually…but I’m trying to be brave for the kiddos! 😉
We took a quick trip the week before Christmas to identify some areas and neighborhoods where we might be interested in living and here are a few homes that caught my eye. I keep looking at these to remind myself of the fun part of moving. 😉
I’d love to hear your favorite things to do, places to eat and things to see in Utah. I need to start compiling my list so we are ready to hit the ground running when we arrive in June. 🙂
Have a great day!
Tammy

Congratulations on your new adventure! Do you know what city you will be living in? I am a huge fan of Park City. Several jobs ago (and three layoffs) I had the opportunity to travel to Park City for work. I was responsible for a sales meeting for the company I worked for. I fell in love with Park City. Upon my arrival, I would ask almost every person I saw, “do you take this for granted?”. The scenery, the mountain etc. was awesome. I am happy to report that everything went off without a hitch. ONe year my husband and I went the first week of June. I wanted him to experience Park City as I had. The first day we arrived there was fresh snow on the ground. It was awesome! We had to shop for warmer clothes. We had a wonderful time. i convinced him to go up on a hot air balloon ride. He loved it.
My hope for you is that you come to love Utah as much as I do. My dream is to one day own a second home there for us to travel back to as a family.
Best wishes to you and your family!!! Happy NEw Year!!!
Hi Debbie!
Thank you so much! Park City is GORGEOUS!! I can see why you love it! It will be fun to see it during the summer. We were there a few weeks ago and it was totally snowy…and it was beautiful then, so I’m sure during the summer it is amazing. Snow in June?! Wow! You are brave for going on a hot air balloon! I’m kind of a wimp…but I bet the views are incredible!
It looks like we will be landing more in the city, but we will be right at the mouth of the canyon to Park City, so it’s a quick 20 minute drive and I’m sure we will be there often!
I am feeling your excitement and it’s making me more excited! Thanks for sharing your enthusiasm with me! 🙂
Have a wonderful day!

Congratulations it is going to be amazing! Utah is beautiful and just think how much more you will get for your money. Super exciting! Do you know Toni from Design Dazzle? She moved from Sacramento to Utah a few years ago and says she will never move back. Loves it there 😉
Thanks so much Charlene! I am super nervous, but yes, Utah is beautiful and will be a great place for our family I am 100% sure. The kids are excited, so I just need to follow their lead! 😉
I don’t know Toni, but I see her name all over the place, so I will have to get to know her! 🙂 I hope you and your family are doing well. 🙂

You have to try a Tri-tip Steak Salad (or sandwich, when resolutions are over) at Cubby’s. They have locations all over. My husband always love the burgers there, too. Welcome to Coldville!
lol Micah! Coldville! uh-oh! I know I’m in trouble considering it’s 68 degrees here today and I’m running around in a sweater and boots! 😉 I will definitely give Cubby’s a try! I love tri-tip! 🙂
Thanks for the welcome!

Wow!! Big announcement! I’m sure you will be very happy there Tammy, and your home will be absolutely gorgeous I’m sure. So many great families moving to Utah :(. You’ll have to tell Jodie Williams, I’m sure she would love to see you when you get there.
Melissa! I am so sorry for the late response to this comment! My replies haven’t been showing up and I just noticed it a month later. YIKES! We will definitely miss it here, but we will be back often and you will just have to bring those cute kiddos of yours up to visit me and Jodie! 😉
