This week there are five full days of inspiration heading your way. Affiliate links are included in this post.
A few weeks ago John and I had the chance to stay at the Pendry hotel in San Diego. The decor there was incredible, and the overall vibe was super masculine…which I really liked. Plaids and leather, black and blue. It was SO good. If you took the tour last year, you might recall that I went with a very feminine look…blushes and blues, so this year I was inspired by the masculine decor at the hotel, to create a more modern Christmas tree. Green and black with pops of gold throughout the house. It might be my new favorite look. 😉
I add to my pillow collection every Christmas…well, let me be honest..I add to my pillow collection year round every chance I get. 😉 I bought these two green pillows, this black and white striped pillow and a few others at HomeGoods and Hobby Lobby. I will buy pillows wherever I can find them! 😉 My favorite leather pillows are making another appearance too.
I swapped out this blue rug that is usually in the living room, for this black and cream one that I bought awhile back for our bedroom. I ended up getting a new rug in there a bit ago, so I was happy to find a use for it this Christmas. It’s a great neutral rug that I love. More accessories that I repurposed from around the house are the cane tray and some accessories from HomeGoods on my favorite coffee table, and the black candlesticks on the mantel. These candlesticks are a great investment for me. I use them EVERYWHERE! I bought mine on sale…if you can find them on sale they are a deal. If not, you can find similar, less expensive ones here.
The mantel is super simple this year. Just some garland and the candles. It’s a cleaner, more modern look to go with the rest of the decor. This mirror goes with everything and is perfect every season. This is the first Christmas finally having some window coverings in this room. I love the curtain rods and the simple white linen curtains. I need to get them hemmed a bit, but it’s just so nice not to have paper coverings on at least a few of the windows! 🙂
I love to collect ornaments from all over. The cute gold and white striped ones are from HomeGoods, you can find the gold bells here (I wish I had bought more!) There are some cute velvet tree ornaments from our trip to San Diego, and others that I picked up at a cute shop in SLC on a lunch date with a dear friend. Even though many of them may not look special, they are all special to me because I remember where I was and who I was with when I bought them. 🙂
These gold bells are great for centerpieces and table decorations. I bought them last year and love them! I’m sure you’ll see them popping up year after year in our house.
When I was shopping for the Midway house, I found this great canvas and these pillows and I fell in love. Sometimes I find decor for clients that I hate to part with. These were a few of those things. Fortunately, after searching high and low, I rounded up a couple for myself and they were a perfect fit with this year’s modern Christmas tree.
I added a little bit of greenery and some decor to the shelves, but nothing too crazy. One of my favorite finds this year is that pretty wood toy horse. I added a simple velvet bow to his neck to help dress him up a bit.
One of my favorite views of the living room decor is from the entry way. You can see more of the entry way here.
