Welcome to Destination Design, a new feature here on the blog. This is something I’ve been wanting to start for awhile, and I’ve finally decided to just jump in with both feet. I have a question for you…
When you are browsing the internet, what makes you stop in your tracks and say WOW!? What is the #1 reason you choose a place to stay, a restaurant to eat in, or a store to shop in? If you are being honest, it is probably the way it looks, am I right? The hotel looks cool, the restaurant looks fancy, the shop looks trendy, the displays are amazing, the food looks delicious, it all just looks good. Beautiful design is everywhere and in case you haven’t noticed, I love to share beautiful design. I also love to travel, eat and shop. So, combining those loves, I am introducing Destination Design. A series where I can introduce you to places I visit or places I stumble upon that celebrate great design. Some of these hotels, restaurants and shops I will have been to personally, others I will have just found via YOU, my readers and friends, or one of my countless internet searches. These will not be reviews, although if I have a personal connection to a place and absolutely love it, I’m sure I won’t be able to refrain from sharing, but it will be mostly just images of places I think showcase great design. ( I admitedly forgot my real camera on this trip, so these are all iphone pics…not quite up to my usual standards, but they will have to do!)
A few weeks ago we headed to Santa Barabara, CA or Goleta to be more exact. We had a chance to spend the night at The Goodland Kimpton Hotel. It was the epitome of California cool. Enjoy this fun, kitchy design:
What do you think? A pretty cute place right? I could hang out in the cozy lobby forever. Would you like a review of this hotel? Let me know if you do and I’ll add a separate post. 🙂
Do you have a hotel, restaurant, shop or some other destination you think I should check out for Destination Design? Let me know about it in the comments, or send me an email at tammy@pinkpeppermintdesign.com I am always on the hunt!
