This month has been crazy busy! I am so excited to be embarking on THREE new design projects and they are keeping me hopping…and I LOVE it! First up is a project for a cute baseball loving tween…my sweet Andy. His room has been on the back burner for a long time, and when he heard that I was starting two other big client projects, he asked again if I could squeeze his room into he mix. How could I say no? It’s time for this baby blue little boy room to get a makeover. I started with my favorite taupe-y gray. I have tried SO many grays. It’s amazing how much they can vary. Some look blue, some look purple, others are green…ugh. It can be super frustrating! My current favorite is Valspar Montpelier Ashlar Gray from Lowes. I have recommended it to several friends and clients and it has worked in all of their homes. It’s especially great if you have had brownish tones in your home for the last ten years and are making the switch to gray. Chances are you have other brown finishes…cupboards, tan carpet, Yukon gold granite etc. This paint should work wonders for you…give it a try! Here’s a tip too…some of my clients have found it too dark for their homes. I have them lighten it by 50-75% and it works like a charm. Don’t be afraid to test colors that way too. Ask at the paint counter if they can lighten or darken a favorite color for you.
So, are you ready? I apologize for the pictures…I ALWAYS forget to take before pictures, I tend to get a little excited to get a project started and forget that part! 😉
And the after (also not great pictures)
Makes a huge difference doesn’t it? As soon as the paint was almost dry, I had my hubby install this new curtain rod from Pottery Barn. It’s part of their cast iron collection. I love the color and the hammered finial for a rustic look. Once the rod was up I was giddy when I saw the drapes that had been sitting on my dresser for a month FINALLY hanging on the wall. I ordered these classic stripe drapes in Navy with the blackout lining. I figure teenagers like to sleep in…so I might as well help by blocking out as much light as possible. 😉
I LOVE them! Such a dramatic change with just a couple of DIY projects! I can’t wait to share the rest of the room as it comes along! 🙂
Have a great day!
