Weekend Recap

Happy Monday!  I hope you all had a fun weekend.  I am in recovery mode today.  John and I had the chance to sneak away for a bit back home to Orange County and it was a much needed trip!  Sunny skies and being by the ocean are always a good cure for the winter blues!  I feel like winter blues should be coming to and end before long in SLC as we are seeing a few days of sun and warmer temps…but then a slushy/snowy storm always seems to pop up thrusting us back into winter in a snap.  I am determined to break out the flip flops for good at this point though…I mean, it’s almost April for heaven’s sake! 😉 Affiliate links are included in this post.

We had the pleasure of spending time at the Surf and Sand in Laguna Beach.  I have driven by this hotel literally hundreds of times and never thought anything of it…frankly it doesn’t look like much from the street.  Well, I found out that I should have been paying a little more attention to it…check out these views from the rooms!

When we walked through the door of our room to this view I couldn’t believe it!  This is a shot from our balcony.  These rooms literally hang OVER the beach.  We were three floors up and when the tide rolled in, the waves were literally running UNDER our balcony.  It was incredible!

If you don’t love the sand between your toes you can always opt for the pool ON the beach.  So awesome!  We have stayed in some pretty amazing ocean front rooms in places like Hawaii and such, but never anything this close to the water.  Usually there are hotel ground between your room and the ocean…not at the Surf and Sand!

The food in OC is too good.  There is always too little time and too many yummy places to eat!  We have been wanting to visit Selanne’s for some time, so it was fun to walk across the street from the hotel and eat a delicious dinner.  It is in the CUTEST building.  You have to check it our sometime and make sure to get the mac n cheese!  If you are lucky, Teemu Selanne might even be there.  Rumor has it he shows up to work during the week sometimes. We also walked to Urth Cafe for breakfast on Saturday.  SO good!!

We spent most of our time visiting friends, eating delicious food, enjoying the ocean and SHOPPING!!  Lots of my favorite shops are in Laguna.  Tuvalu is always a favorite stop.

The Garage Collective is another favorite.

While I was in town I stopped into my favorite salon and got a MAJOR cut….I took off a FOOT of hair!  Yep…12 whole inches!  I kind of love it!

I always have to visit my favorite neighborhood for a stroll when I’m in town.  Have you ever wandered the streets of Corona Del Mar?  I highly recommend it if you love looking at beautiful homes. (and the ocean!)

so cute, right?  These homes are insanely expensive, and right across the street from this view…

Not too shabby. 😉 . It’s my dream street.  and John would tell me to keep dreaming. 😉 lol!

Spring home decor

Did you catch the spring home tour this past week?  I am loving having this bright spring feeling space.  We’re getting ready to make some other changes to this part of the house.  I just need more color, so wallpaper samples have been arriving…

I think the dining room is going to get some wallpaper to help it out a bit.  Ashley’s room is getting the paper in the upper left corner I think.  Everything is 20% off at Serena and Lily right now.  Here are some of my favorites…click on any affiliate image for more information about the product…

I can’t wait to head off to another sunny destination again before too long!  Give me all the sun! 😉

Have a wonderful day!

  1. I love visiting Laguna Beach! Growing up in Las Vegas where we had blue skies and sunshine 99% of the time has made it hard on me to always enjoy living in Ottawa where we have snow for 6 months of the year ;). I’m heading home in 2 weeks to visit my mom and sisters. One sister just moved to San Diego and I can’t wait to visit her there!
