Teacher Gift Ideas : Gifts Teachers really want

Christmas and definitely the end of the school year are super busy times.  Classroom parties, testing, holidays, vacations… it’s a crazy, sometimes overwhelming time of year.  Let’s make it easy this year and get one thing out of the way.  What to give your child’s teacher!  Coming up with teacher gift ideas is just another to-do on your list… so I’m helping to shorten that list. 😉  I’ve rounded up a few teacher gift ideas that teachers are sure to love (and use).  I hear so often from friends that have been teachers…not complaints, but just wishes for useful and useable gifts.  They feel bad to have people spend their hard earned money on things that won’t get used.  So, I polled a few teachers to create the ultimate gift guide for teachers.  If you are looking for a teacher Christmas gift or end of the school year gift, look no further.  Affiliate links are included in this post.

teacher gift ideas for end of school yearLet’s face it…teachers love their classrooms…they dedicate countless hours and tons of their own money buying supplies and creating an environment where your kids will be happy and will do their best learning.  By this time of year supplies that we gave at the beginning of the year are starting to wear out and could stand to be replaced.  Here are some of the most requested and popular teacher gift items…

This sharpie assortment isn’t just useful, it looks SO fun and happy too!

Post it Notes always run out way too fast! This colored assortment will brighten their day and are sure to come in handy.

Just like the sharpie set, this set of dry erase markers will be used and appreciated everyday.  Stationary sets are also a favorite so that teachers can thank parents for their help in the classroom, gifts they’ve received etc.  This Chalk Art Thank You Cards set is one of my personal favorites.

I love the smell and feel of new books, and so do teachers! Find a small boxed set of popular books for your classrooms reading level, like this set of popular Magic Tree House books and it is sure to be a hit.

Along those same lines, a gift subscription to an educational magazine like National Geographic for Little Kids
Highlights magazine has been around since I was a kid and is still loved by teachers.  Any magazine subscription will be a gift that gives all year long.

If you’re not sold on the “gifts for the classroom” idea, teachers always LOVE gift cards.  With so much technology being used in the classroom these days, an Apple iTunes GiftCard allows your teacher to buy personal movies and music, or, if they choose, apps and such for the classroom.  If you buy it through Amazon, you can pick up a $15 card for just under $14…every little bit counts, right?  And of course you can never go wrong with an amazon or Starbucks card.  A great general type gift card to a place where they are sure to be able to find something they like for themselves or their students.  If you’re really behind, you can even order many of these gift cards and have them delivered directly to their email for perfect last minute gift giving!
