Welcome to our Christmas Home Tour! I was so excited when Marty from A Stroll Thru Life invited me to participate in her wonderful Christmas home tour this year. She is such a great hostess and I enjoy looking at everyone’s tours each season, so I am extra excited to be participating this year! If you are new to my blog or joining me from It All Started With Paint, welcome! Isn’t Linda’s home beautiful? I absolutely love her home tour…so inspiring! It’s a pleasure to have you here. Christmas home decor is all about cozy and comfortable…designing a space where friends and family want to gather and stay for awhile. We don’t have a large house, but it is filled with things we love and that have special meaning to our family, and I love re-arranging things throughout the year to decorate for the holidays and different seasons. At the end of the post, you will find links to all 30 fall home tours that will be happening this week, and you definitely don’t want to miss any of them!
Christmas time in Orange County is beautiful. The weather is practically perfect, sunny and bit crisp (at least for us wimpy Californians) 😉 and the skies are blue and clear. Every year at this time, I marvel at the fact that as I drive through our community I can see snow covered mountains in my rear view mirror and the sparkling ocean out of the windshield. It is a sight I never take for granted. It takes my breath away every. single. time. Because we never have a white Christmas, I try extra hard to bring that fun, cozy feeling into our family room with the Christmas home decor I use. I went heavy on the red and plaids in the family room this year, and I kind of love it. 😉 I hope you feel welcome and comfortable visiting our home and want to stay for awhile. 🙂
I love to bring in fresh greens at Christmas time as part of our Christmas home decor. This garland was easy to create with a mix of Juniper, cypress, lemon leaves and some pretty red berries. I think the mix of colors, textures and leaf variation is really fun. The mantel is simple and beautiful.
A small tree in a bucket is a cute addition to any corner, both are from HomeGoods. I also like to place on on the hearth. Can’t get enough greenery!
I loved this fun wood sign and mercury glass ornament wreath that I found at HomeGoods. They always have such great accessories. I love that their Christmas home decor is usually totally unique and hard, if not impossible to find elsewhere. That guarantees that your home will look a little different than any other home out there.
. I bought it about 4 months ago after a struggle to find exactly what I was looking for. I thought I would use it as a place holder in the mean time…but I have fallen in love! This room uses an 8×10 size.
I bring out this burlap wreath every year and it gets tons of compliments. A cute girl in my neighborhood made it several years ago as a fundraiser, but I have linked a few simliar wreaths for you. I love hanging it over my favorite mirror.
More fun accessories from HomeGoods create a fun shelfie. 😉
I found those cute paper mache house boxes at Hobby Lobby and loved the natural color of them…but thought they needed just a little sparkle, so I simply covered the roof in craft glue and glittered them with German glass glitter. I LOVE the result. I have a few more boxes, so I’ll probably make a village. 🙂 If you’ve never worked with glass glitter before, maybe take a look at this tutorial for some helpful tips and advice.
