Design Update: The Avendale House Kitchen Remodel

new backspalsh in process

It’s been a while since I gave an update on the design project over at the Avendale house, and exciting thins are happening!  We started with the twin’s rooms, the blue room and the pink, green and navy room, but things have also been busy in the family room, dining room, living room, nook and kitchen.  Whew!  Things were lightned up significantly with some paint back in July, at which time I thought it would be really nice to lighten the kitchen up with some white cabinets and maybe a little backsplash or counter change.  Budget is always top priority of course, and at the time we weren’t sure if that was going to work with all the other projects we had in mind.  Well, exciting news…the kitchen whitening project has begun!  By the end of next week, everything should be light and bright!  I can’t wait! Sorry, but these are grainy, unstyled pics…they are truly “behind the scenes!” 🙂

Here’s what we started with…dark cabinets, a goldish paint, granite counters and full backsplash.

clearly behind the scenes… 😉  first the paint in July to lighten it up…

and yesterday, the new backsplash was started…

To help tie in the creamy, granite with the new bright white cabinets, we’re going with a slightly cream subway tile.  It’s a beachy, sandy color that will make a gorgeous transition between the two.  I can’t wait to see it grouted! 🙂

doesn’t it look brighter already?  I can hardly even wait until the cabinets are white!!!

Have a wonderful weekend and I can’t wait to share more when it’s all done! 🙂

Happy Designing!
