Fall Home Decor Ideas & Blogger Home Tour

Did someone say FALL?! Lately, it hasn’t felt much like fall around here. Record breaking temperatures have me feeling like summer hasn’t quite left yet…but Saturday night we got a glimpse of what’s to come. Cooler temps blew in just for the night and I got to watch football and wear a sweatshirt. That’s good enough for me! Bring on the fall home tours and pumpkin spice! 😉  Did you catch yesterday’s kick off of the home tours? Marty always puts together such a great line up. If you’re visiting from Cindy’s beautiful tour, welcome! I am so glad you’re here. If you’re a longtime friend, then you know I love blue. This fall, I’ve decided to really just celebrate that. Usually I use lighter hues of blue for more of a coastal look during the spring and summer, but this time of year I love to break out the deeper and more muted tones and richer fabrics.

Blue-grays, navy and a little plum are what I brought in this season. I’m on the hunt for chairs and a rug for this room and trying out some different looks. Usually I have these wicker chairs in here, but I decided to add those to the dining room and brought in these sling chairs from upstairs to see if I liked them here. I love the chairs, they are super comfy, but I think eventually I want to bring in more color. I just can’t decide if that is going to come from the chairs, or the rug…or maybe both! 😉 This is the rug I’m thinking about.

MIRROR | ART

Changing up the art is a great way to give a room an instant facelift. I love to look for art at antique stores, thrift stores and garage sales. These pieces from Target are also SUCH a great deal. The gold frames and texture on the canvas make them look a LOT more expensive than they are. This blue one was $20! I love pieces from the antique store too because they are ACTUAL one of a kind pieces that are signed. I added this piece to the mantel for fall because it brought in those great plum tones.

I tend to love a “collected” look where everything kind of has a story or comes from a different place. I like the character it adds to a room and I especially LOVE pillows. In my former life, I owned an online scrapbooking business. People loved the look of scrapbook pages that mixed and matched patterned papers from different companies, but often weren’t quite sure how to get the look themselves and have it turn out right. My friend and I started a company that would offer kits of paper and embellishments that all coordinated but were from different companies to make scrapbook pages that had that collected look. It was so fun for me to pick out papers and mix them. We used to sell hundreds of kits each month to people in over 20 countries. It was a thrill! I kind of feel like pillows are the new scrapbook paper in my life. lol! 😉

I don’t but very many souvenirs when I travel…but when I do, they are usually something that I can display in my home that is a subtle reminder for me of a special trip. I found this pretty little pot in a vintage shop in a little village in the Alsace region of France last December. It’s an 18th century milk pot. The blue color is very unusual, as most of these pots are yellow, so when I saw it I knew I had to have it. This pretty stoneware vase is Target find and I added some branches from our plum tree in the front yard.

I get asked about this coffee table all the time. The legs are a show stopper. 😉 I have big plans for that dining room in the background this year. Time to bring some color in there too!

For the coffee table decor I just added darker accessories, winter and fall themed decor and lots of natural textures…with a little hint of brass…because I love it. 😉

Those navy velvet pillows though…yum!

As much as I don’t love cold weather, and especially not winter, I do love those fall days with a little chill in the air and crisp cool nights. I can’t wait to curl up in this chair next to the fire.
