One of my favorite things about summer is getting the chance to put up the patriotic decor, and leave it up all summer long. Kicking things off with Memorial Day in May and rounding out the summer with Labor Day at the end, is a perfect excuse to change up the decor and let it stay for awhile. That red, white and blue color combination is so striking and it makes for great party decor too. I didn’t want to limit these party ideas to just the 4th of July or Memorial Day since there are lots of excuses to host a patriotic party throughout the year, so we’re just calling this the red, white and blue party. Whether you are hosting for Memorial Day, Flag Day, the 4th of July, Labor Day or even a Veteran’s Day or Election Night party, hopefully these Patriotic Party Decorating Ideas will help you plan the perfect event. The backdrop is such a key element for every party table. It is always where I start. I almost always want to come up with something that is EASY, inexpensive, unique and did I mention easy? 😉 I came up with this paper plate flag idea for a Patriotic Party Decoration photo backdrop, and then decided to make a scaled down version for this red, white and blue party table backdrop. I cannot emphasize enough just how easy this is! You can find the tutorial for this patriotic party backdrop here.
Fortunately, pulling food together for a great Patriotic party is easy. Nothing says a red, white and blue summer party like a BBQ. Break out the hot dogs and chips and you are ready to celebrate. Of course, it helps to stick with the color scheme of the party to make the table look awesome!
I found these red and white striped straws here and the blue and while polka to match. The party blowers were a HomeGoods find, along with the cool Coca-Cola cooler (a few years ago), the wire baskets, and food platters. I stock up on white platters and salad bowls every time I’m there. Having a variety of shapes and sizes comes in so handy anytime we are hosting an event or taking something to a potluck. , just without the coca-cola label.
These cute little hot dog party trays were at my local party store. You can find them here. If you prefer, these bags would be super cute too, are disposable, and would keep the dogs warm just like at the ballpark.
These cute little patriotic party diy cupcake toppers are SO fun and easy…and they make the cupcakes just look WAY too cute! I added our custom DIY Cupcake sprinkle mix to them as well. Here’s one of my favorite party time saving tips…cute diy cupcake toppers like this can be made WAY in advance and are super easy. When you pair them with store bought cupcakes, simply adding a cute wrapper, homemade patriotic cupcake topper and some sprinkles makes them look like a million bucks, but takes no time at all. Usually you will need to order the cupcakes in advance from the grocery store bakery. I always ask for chocolate and or vanilla cupcakes with plain white frosting and no decorations. That way I can decorate them on my own at home and make them look special in no time…without the mess and time of baking them myself. You can find the tutorial for these cute DIY Cupcake Toppers here. If you’re looking for the easy DIY Sprinkle Mix, you can find it here.
Another fun DIY patriotic party decorations idea are these fluffy yarn pom poms. I use them ALL the time in parties and in my decor for all different occasions. I used them in this bedroom, I made tiny ones for cupcake toppers for this baby shower, and this ice cream party garland was a fun one too. They are easy to make while you are sitting and watching TV, so make a bunch to have on hand and then anytime you want a garland you can just string them up. You can watch this easy video tutorial here to show you how to make them in minutes.

This is so totally all American. I love it all.
This is just gorgeous and so clever of you to use the plates as the backdrop! As she says in Legally Blonde, “You look like the 4th of July…It makes me want a hot dog real bad!” I am pinning this and sharing on Facebook! Cheers!
