I grew up in San Diego and admittedly never spent much time in Oceanside. We were a little bit inland and further south in San Diego..so our beach trips took us to La Jolla Shores, Del Mar and points south. Living in Orange County these last many years Oceanside has been a bit closer, but with beautiful beaches right out my front door I still hadn’t really spent any time there. A few months ago John had a conference in town, so I took the chance to spend some time in Oceanside and see what’s been happening. If you are looking for a pretty beach destination, you will definitely want to add The Seabird Resort a Beachfront Hotel in Oceanside, CA to your list!

Where to Stay in Oceanside, CA
Two new Oceanfront hotels (both operated by Hyatt) just opened in May 2021 on Pacific Ave in Oceanside directly across from the beach. The Mission Pacific Hotel and The Seabird Resort are the largest oceanfront hotel development in San Diego County in more than 50 years! Wow!
John’s conference was held at the Seabird Resort so I had the chance to check out this gorgeous boutique hotel oozing a breezy, California cool vibe. The Seabird is reminiscent of a traditional grand coastal home. The lobby’s soaring ceilings are complete with ceiling beams, walls are coated in wainscoting and shiplap all painted in a crisp white.
Gorgeous white oak hardwood floors in a herringbone pattern, oversized black lanterns and contemporary chandeliers hanging from the ceiling beams, and a plethora of conversation areas with cozy oversized furniture in rattan and wicker beckon you to grab a cold drink and settle in to relax and enjoy the expansive ocean views out the accordion style doors that make up the walls.
Plush pillows in every shade of blue mixed with bright yellows and contemporary pop art curated by the Oceanside Museum of Art add a bold, whimsical touch.
Location: The Seabird Resort | Beachfront Hotel in Oceanside, CA
Located on the corner of Mission Ave and Pacific, The Seabird Resort is directly across from the ocean, steps from the Oceanside Pier and just one block from an Amtrak station that can get you to/from Downtown San Diego or South Orange County for just $15.
Not only does the Seabird Resort have great access to the beach, but you are within close walking distance to lots of popular and delicious places to grab a bite to eat. Quick Bites like Beach Hut Deli…a local So Cal hot spot and Parlor Donuts for delicious breakfast (or anytime) treats are both favorites.
The Surf Museum is also just a quick walk from the hotel when you need a break from the beach. 😉
The Rooms at The Seabird Resort | Beachfront Hotel in Oceanside, CA
Because John was in town for a conference, he didn’t ask for anything special or particular with his room. We were given room 352 which was located adjacent to the pool. There wasn’t a view to speak of out of the massive sliding doors that led to a patio next to the pool, but we did have a peek-a-boo view of the ocean across the street.
Many of the rooms have full or at least partial ocean views that are stunning. Our room was quite large with an entry/hallway area, large bathroom with walk-in shower and separate toilet area, two queen beds, a sitting area with a settee and table, and then the patio area. Plenty of room for the three of us to be comfortable. For under $300 a night at an oceanfront resort I thought it was a great deal!
The bathrooms are nicely appointed with pretty showers with white subway tile surrounds, blue and white marble mosaic shower floors and niches, and chrome rain head shower fixtures. A large sink area with quartz countertops, cute sconces and a big mirror make up the main part of the bathroom.
A large barn door separates the shower and sink from a toilet area. Toiletries are by and each room includes a bright yellow Dry Bar blow drier which was such a treat, as I blow dry my hair every day and usually have to deal with cheap blow driers that barely do anything.
The closets have two super snuggly and ADORABLE blue and white seer-sucker robes with a white fleece lining, two pairs of cute branded navy-blue slippers, laundry bags, a luggage rack and a steamer in lieu of an iron.
Our room had a cute little coffee station with branded coffee cups (I’m a sucker for good branding) on a pretty blue console table, and a small basket of yummy snacks for purchase on a separate console table under the large wall-mounted TV.

The Shore Room Bar & Lounge – located in the lobby it opens at 3pm each day, has a comfortable relaxed atmosphere and amazing ocean views. They serve apps and casual favorites like flatbreads, fries, cheese and charcuterie boards, and a selection of sweets along with lots of drinks to choose from.
Other resort amenities at The Seabird Resort include a fully equipped fitness center, a gorgeous pool on a rooftop deck with stunning views of the pacific ocean right across the street.
