Week in Review

Happy  Monday! How are you all? I decided to take some time off in January and I have to say, it was a nice break…but I have been itching to get back to blogging. 🙂 After a bit of a crazy December and January, I enjoyed taking a couple of weeks to regroup, plan out my work schedule for this coming year, and get organized! Isn’t January always so good for that? I love the feeling of after the chaos of the holidays (fun chaos…but chaos none the less! lol!) clearing out and having a clean slate for the coming year.

One of the main things I had been wanting to get done FINALLY happened this week. Getting the new rug installed in the bedroom at the OC house! The rug arrived back in October…but with John and I bouncing back and forth…seemingly always in different places, it took us that long to get it done! lol! Does anyone else’s honey-do list have items on it like that that take forever?! In all fairness, it was a big project. We needed to completely dismantle the entire bed…which of course was really well put together and had about 14 pieces, lol! When all was said and done it took about an hour and a half…but it was SO worth it!

I bought this other rug back before we even finished remodeling the house, and I wasn’t exactly sure what design direction I was heading at that point and then one day in the craziness of construction the bed was delivered and we threw this rug underneath it to protect the floor and there it has stayed. 😉 I LOVE this rug…it just wasn’t right for the room. It left me feeling like I couldn’t decorate the bedroom because the colors of the room weren’t right. Now, we have this beautiful neutral rug and it’s time to get down to decorating! Wahoo!

We have been SO excited in our house that the Rams are going to the Super Bowl!! Ash has been baking up fun treats to get ready! Her cakes and cupcakes are too yummy and dangerous to have around the house!

We got word that this cute boy is coming home July 20th!!! I could not be more excited!! He is having an amazing time on his mission, and I couldn’t ask for a more wonderful growing and learning experience for him, but it has been almost 2 years since I gave this boy a hug and I. Can’t. Wait!!!

We spent much of the weekend on the beach…Fashion Island on Friday night and Balboa Island on Saturday. The weather has been unseasonably warm and so we had to take advantage of 75 degree temps at the beach in February!

Ash had been wanting to try Bonzai Bowls (an acai bowl place here in So Cal) and so we decided to park on the island and then walk to the ferry, ride it across to the peninsula and walk for a bowl.

If you are ever in the area, the ferry is a super fun thing to do. It’s totally old fashioned and fun. Cars, bikes and pedestrians can all ride it for roughly $1.25 a person each way.

The boys were so happy to be out walking and enjoying the people watching too. 😉

I’m looking forward to talking to my missionary tonight, getting some fun things done this week around the house, and blogging!! What is on deck at your house this week?

I hope you have a wonderful Monday!
