Week in Review

Happy Monday! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend with your families. I don’t know about you, but these weeks seem to be going by faster and faster. I used to be really good about posting more family updates here on the blog and as the kids have gotten bigger and busier, I’ve slacked at keeping a little journal here of weekly updates, so with the new blog, I’m going to make a renewed effort to journal a little bit more here on Monday mornings if that’s ok with you! 🙂

It started to feel a little bit more like fall finally this weekend! The week started off with nearly record setting temps over 100 degrees and by Saturday it was raining and cool! A few evenings by the beach was a great way to cool down in the heat early in the week.

This is my happy place. Any minutes I can get by the coast, I’ll take! There is something so relaxing about sitting in the grass with my people and talking while the sun sets and the waves crash. We love to keep in the car for an impromptu picnic or night at the park. They have a water resistant backing which is great for damp grass and a strap so they are easy to carry.

Lunch with a good friend a few days later at another favorite park with pretty ocean views was another highlight. Jill has become such a good friend over the last year as we have walked and talked for hundreds of miles. We both had my latest favorite salad…have you had the Market Salad from Chick fil A? It is SO yummy! I like to get it with the light balsamic dressing. It’s HUGE and delicious and only 390 calories with that dressing. Amazing!

Friday night we headed over to Balboa Island…another one of favorite local spots, for dinner at a cute little spot we love there. Ciao has yummy pasta and salads, and we love sitting outside along the sidewalk to people watch. Ash joined us. I sure love hanging out with this cute girl. She is growing up WAY too fast, so any time we can get with her is a real treat. Those moments are fleeting for sure!

Of course we can’t come to Balboa without a frozen banana. It’s always a favorite with Arrested Development fans. 😉 I crack up when I see her . I wish I had just kept mine so she could wear them. Then they’d be cool and vintage! 😉 She likes to put her own girly twist on them and pairs them with instead of laces. It is SO cute!

John went for a long run Saturday morning, so Ash and I cheated and drove to meet up with him at the end of his run for a 4 mile walk. 😉 At least we gave him a ride home! lol! I have been walking A LOT lately…I’ll share more about that in an upcoming post…but if you are looking for have been a life saver for me!

I LOVE walking around the harbor! It’s extra fun on a Saturday morning with crowds brunching and enjoying the weekend. It’s such a pretty place!

Ashley might be the biggest Disney fan I have ever seen. We decided head up to Downtown Disney with her Saturday night to enjoy walking around and grab some dinner. I’m not usually a big theme park restaurant fan, but Naples at Downtown Disney is a favorite. Great pizza and fun people watching. 🙂

She was so excited to wear her new green ears. She came out of her room wearing with them and at first I thought…that doesn’t match! Then she quickly explained that she was a pumpkin with her orange shirt and green sequin Mickey ears headband, she couldn’t go to Disney at HalloweenTime and not dress for it! Lol! She makes me laugh!

I tried out a new cookie recipe last night, hopefully a yummy new fall treat that I can share here. I let the flavor develop over night…so after I eat one for breakfast I’ll let you know how they turned out. 😉

But alas, before I can eat cookies for breakfast, I have to earn them, so I am off on my daily walk. It’s such a nice way to start the day, I really look forward to it. I hope you have a wonderful week. There is lots of fun stuff headed to the blog this week, I can’t wait to share. Take care and make it a great start to your week today!
