Happy November!! Wow! I can’t believe it! I hope you all had a wonderful Halloween last night. I don’t know about you guys, but Halloween has kind of turned into a month-long activity over the years for us with decorating, pumpkin patches, pumpkin carving parties, dances, trick or treating, fall festivals, fun themed meals…the list goes on and on. It is so much fun and I’m always a little sad when it’s over…thank goodness we have Thanksgiving and Christmas to look forward to! This week was pretty busy wrapping up October, here are a few of the things we’ve been up to…
CONTENT CREATION FOR THE BLOG
This is crunch time in blog-land, so I am extra busy creating content this time of year. That means lots of decor, design, recipes, printables and more coming your way! Yay! The recipe testing is my favorite. 😉
This Brie appetizer…oh man! So yummy!!!
And on the healthier side, a pretty and delicious fall salad, perfect for Thanksgiving! Both are coming soon!
DATE NIGHTS
With a busy teenager and John and I always bouncing back and forth between Utah and CA…often on different schedules…we really look forward to the chance to connect and go out just the two of us, every chance we get!
We visited a couple of our favorite restaurants this week for date nights and even got to sneak out with some good friends Friday night to try a new fun place.
This cheese and charcuterie board at Side Door is one of my favorites ever. I always look forward to it.
HALLOWEEN FUN
Our community is well known as THE place to spend Halloween. (USA Today even named it the best place to spend Halloween in the US a few years back!) So many people go all out decorating, creating elaborate Haunted Houses, making homemade treats for trick or treaters (hello hot scones and cider!), having live music, hot dog carts, photo booths…you name it! One neighbor even developed a ride in his garage a few years ago that was sold to Universal Studios! It’s a wild time around here and SO fun!
Some fun friends of ours host a pumpkin carving party every year a few nights before Halloween. It’s fun to go and chat and eat and get those jack-o-lanterns ready for the big night!
You all know Ash is a Disney fanatic, so of course she had to create a cute Mickey and Minnie just like the ones at HalloweenTime at the park.
COLLEGE GAME DAY
We woke up Saturday morning to a message from Andy that he had made it on College Game Day. He is currently serving a mission in Michigan, and lives right across the street from the MSU campus. He had been watching ESPN set up all week for their College Game Day broadcast ahead of the big MSU v Michigan game on Saturday so he got creative, made a few ComeUntoChrist.org signs and headed to the stadium with his companion and a few others to see if they could make it on TV. Now that is thinking outside the box for missionary work! 😉 Leave it to that kid to find a way to weave something sports related into his missionary work. Love him and his cute personality so much. This is a terrible picture taken from a recording off the TV, but that’s him holding the big white sign! 🙂
A NEW PROJECT AT THE OC RANCH RENO
Saturday we ran errands, including stopping by Sepulveda to choose some pavers for the backyard. We have been working with a landscape architect and getting things in order so we can spruce up the backyard. I’m so excited. We love spending time out there and it will be nice to give it a refresh!
No week is complete without a quick stop by the beach. I just love a walk along the coast any chance I can sneak one in!
The picture doesn’t do them justice, but it is a little unnerving to walk by the coast these days because nothing makes the supply chain issues seems more real than seeing what appears to be a literal city of gigantic cargo ships sitting off the coast stretching as far south as Newport Beach from San Pedro and beyond. There are SO many of them. It’s CRAZY! They are everywhere and you can just see more and more of them heading this way on the horizon. Each one of those ships I’ve been told holds 10,000+ containers…and there are hundreds of them out there. WILD.
And finally…Halloween. Cute Andy found himself a little Olaf onesie at the Thrift store he volunteers at and had to have it to wear around his apartment tonight to celebrate. So cute. And Ash…or should I say Toy Story Barbie made an appearance. 😉
These kiddos. They crack me up.
Be sure to check out the posts from last week and check back often for more new posts every week. I’m working on trying to get one up a day if I can swing it! 🙂 Here are a few from last week:
Prettiest Garlands for Your Home
Cutest Christmas Decor from Hearth & Hand with Magnolia
Awesome Christmas Gifts for Her Under $50
Well, the Halloween decorations are coming down today and Christmas is going up. No time to rest around here! What do you have planned for this week? I have a long overdue trip to the dentist to look forward to at the end of the week. I hate the dentist….so that should be fun. ;0 Wish me luck! 🙂
Have a great week!
