Weekend Recap

Happy Monday!  How did we already get to the last Monday of September?!  I feel like it was just July and here we are headed full speed into the holidays.  You have probably noticed a few Halloween posts popping up here and there…I’m sorry!  I can’t help myself! 🙂

So, how was your weekend?  Last week was a BUSY week for me.  I had the pleasure of spending some super quality time with my nieces in AZ.  Twin 4 year olds and an 18 month old wore this old lady out!  It’s funny, because my sister is only a couple of years younger than me, but her having little kids makes me feel WAY old with my teenagers.   I am so grateful to get to spend this kind of quality time with my nieces making memories.  I have such wonderful relationships with my aunts and uncles, I want to be the same kind of aunt to them! 🙂

I seriously forgot how demanding toddlers can be…and being way out numbered is that much harder!  Thank goodness great grandma and grandma and grandpa came to give me some help. 😉  I was so busy I didn’t even get one picture of the 4 of us.  Bummer!  I am terrible about that.  So, needless to say, I came home on Friday night and indulged in a little retail therapy to relax.  The temps are still in the 80s and 90s here, but all the fall sweaters, jeans and booties have been calling my name and I just couldn’t resist any longer! 😉 I may have gone a bit crazy, here’s some of what I picked up:

I bought that quilted jacket in both the olive and a pretty champagne color. I didn’t buy nearly enough cold weather gear last year, so I am trying to be better prepared this year. These will look cute layered over a sweater. The long, striped sweater is seriously like wearing a blanket.  It is SO comfy!  It comes in gray too, but since I ALWAYS buy gray and black, I made myself get something a little different and branch out a bit. 😉 The black and white top is almost more like a sweater.  It is incredibly soft.  The fit is a a boxier one, which I like because it it forgiving, but I did have to get a size down because it is cut very large…so you might want to do the same.

After sleeping in on Saturday…like REALLY sleeping in, we headed out to a football game.  I LOVE football and it was such a fun way to spend a beautiful September Saturday afternoon.  We won too…so that always helps. 😉

Both of my kids have gotten glasses in the last month…thanks to their dad’s genes. 😉  Andy was excited to sport his at the game to help him see better.  It’s cute that he’s excited about it…we’ll see if that lasts. 😉

This week I am headed out of town once again, this time to one of my favorite places on the planet…NYC!  Woohoo!!  I have a hard time sitting still, and Utah is a little (LOT!) slow paced for our family, so we find ourselves on the road more and more these days.   I am SO grateful to be named a Better Homes and Gardens StyleMaker once again this year.  It is such an honor and the intimate gathering of some of my favorite bloggers has really become the highlight of my year these last few years.  I LOVE kicking off fall in NYC with a bunch of creatives.  It’s such a great way to jump into the holiday season.

The weather doesn’t look like it will be quite as cool as I was hoping for, but it should be cooler than here in Utah, so I’ll take it! 😉 I’ll pack some of my new fall sweaters and jeans in hopes that there will be a couple of cooler evenings and I can sport some cute fall gear.  I picked these up last week to get ready for all the walking I’ll be doing.  Comfy shoes are a MUST!  On our last trip I logged 13.5 miles one day.  Now THAT is a lot of steps.  Can I say I’ve done a half marathon now? 😉  Does that count?

I’ll be sure to share lots my adventures on Instagram, so come join me there! 🙂

I have lots of fun in store this week here on the blog, so stay tuned for fun things to come! 🙂

Have a great week!
