How to Create a Cheese Plate : An Easy and Beautiful Appetizer

Do you have company coming for New Years? It is SO easy to create a cheese plate that is a show stopping appetizer.  It is quick, tasty and beautiful…and it’s my go-to appetizer when I’m having company.  I love it because it’s SO easy to put together and looks like a million bucks.  Here are a few tip to create your own cheese plate in minutes.

Here’s what you’ll need:

3-5 types of unique cheeses

We are a bit adventurous with our cheese, but you don’t have to be.  The guideline I usually follow for a good assortment is this:

1 hard, 1 semi-soft and 1 soft

one Goat, one cow and one sheep

You can serve these with some fun things to accompany them. These are a few things that we like with ours and seem to work well:

Crackers (pick something pretty)

A Sliced Baguette

Sliced Green Apples

Grapes

Dried fruits (apricots, cherries)

Nuts (candied walnuts, almonds etc.)

Salami

Spicy mustard

Exotic honey (honeycomb, flavored honey)

Cherry preserves

I always like to add a little dark chocolate too

Most of the grocery stores sell specialty cheeses these days, but if not, you can find a great selection (for less!!) at Trader Joes and Costco.
