Have you ever made homemade caramel apples, only to have the delicious caramel slide off the apple? There are different ways to make sure that doesn’t happen, but I’ve got a secret for you that will make your life so much easier! Sandpaper. Yes, I said sandpaper. Simply run the sandpaper over the entire surface of each apple, and then rinse and dry thoroughly. In the picture above, the apple on the left has been lightly sanded and allowed to oxidize to show the effect. After washing and drying the apples, dip each apple in melted, store bought caramel, allow to set by refrigerating on a parchment paper-lined cookie sheet, and enjoy! To add extra style and flavor to your apples, after refrigerating caramel dipped apples, dip again in melted white chocolate and sprinkle immediately in a mixture of cinnamon and sugar! Refrigerate to set.
