If you love eating, drinking, and wandering stalls full of food and produce of every kind, then you do not want to miss Borough Market when you are visiting London.  This amazing food market by London Bridge has been around for centuries. You can walk and eat your way through history at the same time.  Imagine yourself transported through time wandering amongst traders selling fish, grain, vegetables and livestock… which is not hard to do as you wander the more than 100 stalls of artisan foods and produce offered by today’s vendors immersed in the sights sounds and smells of London’s most renowned food market.

BOROUGH MARKET OPENING TIMES

Borough Market is open much of the year throughout the normal work day hours. The market is located at 8 Southwark Street, London, SE1 1TL, under train tracks and in an awesome, urban location.  It is open from Monday to Saturday. The full market operates from Wednesday to Saturday. On Mondays and Tuesdays, shoppers can find hot food traders, and fruit and vegetable stalls. Borough market opening times are always 10am, with the exception of the weekends.  If you are looking for food markets in London on a Saturday, you’re in luck.  Saturday’s Borough Market is a full market with longer than usual hours.  You will definitely want to try and visit Borough Market on a full market day.  On limited market days, not all of the stalls and shops are open, which makes it not quite as bustling.  If you aren’t in town on a full market day, it’s still worth a visit…you definitely don’t want to miss a trip to Borough Market regardless, but if you can plan your visit to this amazing food hall by London Bridge while it is at it’s busiest, it will be an even better experience.  Here is a schedule of all the Borough Market opening times.  If you are looking for food markets in London on Sunday, Borough Market may not be your best bet, unless you are in town around the holidays.  

From Monday 4th December to the New Year, Borough Market is open seven days a week. For the rest of the year we’re open Monday to Saturday.

BOROUGH MARKET TUBE AND TRANSPORTATION

Located next to the London Bridge station you can reach the market on either the Jubilee or Northern Lines on the underground and by overground trains from all over London and the south of England. There are signs marking the way to Borough Market in both the London Underground and mainline stations, making it easy to navigate your way to the market. 

Riding a fun double decker bus to Borough Market would be another great option.  The closest bus stops to Borough Market are London Bridge, Borough High Street and Southwark Street…all just a few minutes from the market.

If you plan on driving a car to Borough Market, there are many parking garages (car parks) located nearby, including Union Car Parks and Snowsfields NCP.

Come prepared with an empty belly and a pocket full of cash.  There is truly an offering of just about every kind of food you can imagine.  We sampled Ethiopian food for the first time, amazing Paella, fresh squeezed juices, artisan breads, ice cream, fruit, brownies and several other delicacies.  It was such a fun spot that we returned for a second time on our visit, which is a rare things for us to do!
