There’s nothing that I love more about Halloween than fun Halloween food ideas. Halloween is one of my favorite holidays and I am always on the hunt for easy Halloween recipes. Creepy cocktails, mummy mini pizzas, a halloween snack board…all the things. It’s so fun to make cute and creepy spooky snacks for kids and see the faces and hear the squeals of delight from the kiddos when you present the spooky food. If you are looking for an easy Halloween food idea, something that is a great make-ahead treat to add to your Halloween party menu, this is it! This monster mix is a great way to keep those little monsters happy.
Candy eyeballs are the secret to making this easy trail mix spooky. I purchased these here.
Here’s what you’ll need to make this sweet treat.
Peanuts
M&Ms
Milk Chocolate Chips
Raisins
Peanut Butter Chips
candy eyes
These are the basic ingredients, but the best part about this is that you can customize this themed food anyway you like. Add pumpkin seeds, candy corn, pretzel sticks, dried cranberries, white chocolate chips…whatever you like. It would be fun to add Reese’s Pieces too in place of the M&Ms because the colors are perfect for Halloween.
Depending on the number of people you are trying to feed, you can adjust amounts of each of these ingredients or the number of ingredients you use to make a bigger batch of Monster Mix. For this batch I used roughly 1/3 cup of each ingredient, with the exception of the candy eyes. I used a little bit less of those. Those I used to place more strategically throughout the mix.
In a large bowl just mix your ingredients and give it a good stir. There isn’t much more to it than that!
Depending on how many party guests you are expecting, you can serve this Monster Mix in individual small bowls or ramekins like I have here, or you could set it up like a “Make Your Own Monster Mix” bar and leave the ingredients in their own bowls and provide cute bags and little scoops to let guests make up their own bag of mix. That is always a fun way to serve treats at any party or how about a treat for a scary movie night? This mix (minus the candy eyeballs) is actually one of my favorite things to snack on year round. It’s such an easy recipe which makes it a favorite snack for after school too…not just during Halloween season!
I hope you enjoy this sweet treat as much as we do. Be sure to check out all of the other Halloween desserts and easy Halloween party food ideas I have here on the blog for you!
