Happy Valentine’s Day Printable : Ex-Straw Special

If you know me, you know I love a cheesy valentine with funny puns and such…and I love making Happy Valentine’s Day free printables for you! This site has a library full of free printable Valentine’s Day cards, but I find myself still wanting to make more. Every time I walk down the aisles of Target and Walmart I see things that make me come up with more fun ideas. Maybe I need to stop going to the store. 😉

As much as I love a good Valentine’s Day sweet treat, I know that there are also so many snacks and sweets available this time of year that sometimes you are looking for good classroom valentines that have a great non-candy option. That’s where these fun Ex-straw special Valentine’s Day printables come in handy. These free valentine’s printables paired with the straws are great for a Valentine’s day party favor too.

HOW TO ASSEMBLE THESE CUTE PRINTABLE VALENTINE’S CARD & GIFT

I found these adorable red heart and pink heart straws at Target and knew that they would be perfect when paired with a simple card full of simple hearts in fun colors. I have seen them at the dollar store and elsewhere since, so I’ll link some here for you to hopefully make it easier to find them in bulk.

To assemble these Valentines day cards I just punch a hole in the upper left hand corner of the tag and use this twine or a cute gingham ribbon to tie it up to the straw. I keep this twine around in all the colors. It comes in handy for so many projects like this all year long. If you want you could put the straw in a clear bag with some paper shred and tie it up with the free Valentine’s day printables and ribbon, but I think that’s an extra step that isn’t necessary. It just adds additional cost. But don’t get me wrong…it would look cute! 😉 You can assemble these however you like to add your own personal touch.

Letting older kids help with assembling these is a fun activity you can do together to get in the Valentine spirit!

I usually print my free printables on my home laser printer. I use this thick paper for all of my printables when I print them at home. It’s a 110lb white cardstock. It gives the tags a nice weight, like a store-bought quality card. You can choose an even heavier weight paper, but make sure that your printer can handle it.

I try to make most of my printables on a white background so they are easier to print at home on your home printer and don’t use a ton of color ink. If you aren’t comfortable printing these at home or maybe you don’t have the right cardstock paper or something, these free printable valentines cards are super easy to have it printed at a place like your local print shop or Staples or Office Max. I usually pay a $1.50 or less per page for full color printing on a 110lb cardstock. It’s an easy way to get a bunch of these printable cards done in just minutes. With most print shops you can even email them the pdf file and they can print them ahead for you and have them ready for pick up when you arrive. Just something to think about! 🙂

When I cut out my printable tags and cards at home I like to use this paper cutter. I have used it forever with all my crafting and scrapbooking and I love it. It’s super handy to have around for all kinds of craft projects.

I hope you love these easy and and adorable free download. This little gift is perfect for kids of all ages. Add these free valentine printables to your collection of valentine cards to use year after year.
