Yummy Appetizer: The Best Loaded Hummus Dip Recipe

Dips and appetizers are a big deal on this weekend’s Super Bowl menu. I love to put together a huge spread of yummy grab and go finger foods and dips that people can graze on throughout the game.

This loaded hummus dip is SUCH an easy appetizer and can be a healthy snack too. It looks pretty, has a ton of delicious flavors and fresh toppings. It’s perfect for a large gathering like a super bowl party or big summer bbq. It’s great any season of the year.

You can make your favorite hummus recipe for your base if you’d like. It’s super easy to make your own hummus. You just need a food processor and a few ingredients like canned chickpeas (also known as garbanzo beans), extra virgin olive oil, lemon juice, garlic cloves and a few other easy to grab ingredients. I am using store-bought hummus here to make this appetizer even easier.

Grocery stores are full of all kinds of pre-made delicious hummus varieties. My local store makes their own traditional hummus fresh each day too, so I love to grab that.

The ingredient list for this tasty recipe is full of all my favorite things. Here’s what you’ll need:

– Creamy hummus ( you can choose which flavor you’d like. I’m using classic hummus, but a flavored red pepper hummus might be a great base for your dip too!)

- Fresh Parsley

– Cherry Tomatoes

– Feta Cheese

– Pita Bread

– English Cucumber ( Persian cucumbers are great too!)

– Kalamata Olives

- Cayenne Pepper

– Fresh Lemon Juice

– drizzle of olive oil

To assemble your Loaded Hummus platter:

Slice your cucumbers, fresh tomatoes and any other fresh veggies into quarters or small bite size pieces. Chop your parsley into fine pieces to make a pretty garnish. I bought feta in a block so I crumble that up into small chunks.

On a nice big platter or in a large shallow bowl, add your hummus base and spread it around into a smooth, pretty shape with the back of a spoon or rubber spatula.

Now it’s time to decorate. Top your silky smooth hummus first with your chunkier items…tomatoes, cucumbers and olives. Add a drizzle of olive oil, a squeeze of a little fresh lemon juice, and some cayenne pepper for color and added flavor.

Sprinkle your tangy feta over everything and garnish with parsley.

It’s beautiful and there is so much flavor in this dish!  If you feel like it you could really eat this delicious snack dip as a main dish for an easy dinner. This would be really good with a little bit of protein too.
