I love Valentine’s Day for all the cheesy, cutesy ways to show those you love just how much they mean to you. I also love any excuse to party and celebrate with my girlfriends…so, when Kelly from A Green Spring Home asked if I’d like to be a part of the Valentine’s Day at Home blog tour, I jumped at the chance to celebrate this fun holiday with some of my other favorite blogging girlfriends by sharing fun ideas for a Valentine’s Day Brunch party. If you are joining us from 2 Ladies and a Chair, thank you for visiting! Isn’t Joan’s table so pretty?
I opted for a non-traditional color palette and went with pink, gold and mint green. I love this soft and pretty color combo. I used it for Ashley’s baptism celebration a few years ago, and it has been one of my favorites ever since. I love using paper party fans for a backdrop because they are so pretty, they look festive and fill up a lot of space, creating a perfect look behind a table. I picked up this pink and gold paper fan set and added this mint set on into the mix to get my color palette.
I have had this pretty antique table for several years, and it just happens to be a pretty minty green, so it was the perfect table for our Galentine’s Valentine Brunch party. I scored this at HomeGoods of all places. It is a true antique and a Rachel Ashwell piece. (of Shabby Chic fame) I about screamed out loud when I found it. The Rachel Ashwell boutique in LA was closing at the time and HomeGoods must have scored several of her pieces. I was lucky enough to stumble on this one and snatched it right up! I always pick up white platters, bowls and cake stands at HomeGoods too. They have such a great selection and you can find them year round. It is my go-to place for serving pieces. If you always go with white, you can mix and match the shapes and styles easily.
The whole point of having friends over is to be able to relax and have a good time, right? So, this brunch is a super easy set up. Here’s what I put together…
-Mini Pancakes (you can buy these silver dollar pancakes in the frozen section, or make some with my favorite pancake recipe) I simply added some pink felt hearts to the tops of toothpicks and put them in mini stacks of three pancakes.
-Yogurt. I found these adorable French style yogurts at the grocery store and I was so excited. When we were in France I ate yogurt just so I could bring home the adorable little jars they were in. Now they sell them here at home! Yay!
-Berries. I used these berries in three ways…I sliced them up and put them in the crepes, served them whole, and made a mixed berry salad so people can eat it on top of their pound cake, yogurt, or their pancakes.
-Mini Crepes. I found these mini, pre-made crepes at Costco and filled them with fruit and topped them with Nutella. SO yummy and SO easy!
-Granola. I LOVE this granola from Costco. It is super yummy to eat by itself, and it’s nice to put it on yogurt too.
-Mini Donuts
I get asked about these cake stands all the time. I LOVE them. I actually have them in blue, light pink and mint green too, and I use them ALL the time. One of my pink stands was broken in the move, so I need to order a new one!
As you can see, I really didn’t do much prep for this, except for cut up some berries and rolled a few crepes. That is the best kind of party prep. Minimal prep allows me to enjoy the party too.
I love to do these pretty food tables at parties for a selfish reason too…if you’re already spending money on food, use it as a party decoration and get extra mileage out of it. Also, it allows me to put everything out so guests can serve themselves. With all the food out, I get a chance to eat and enjoy the good company too, rather than trying to serve people the whole time. 🙂
Usually I would create more of a floral “arrangement,” but when I found these pretty pink long stemmed roses, I thought it would be nice to let each guest take one home as a little favor, so I left them just in a bundle, in this pretty vase I just bought.
I hope you are feeling inspired to create your very own Galentine’s Valentine’s Day brunch party and celebrate with all your girlfriends. It doesn’t have to be difficult to create something pretty and fun for your guests.
