Powder Bathroom Ideas : Midway Modern Farmhouse

A powder bathroom is always such a fun space to design. It’s a little space completely removed from the rest of the house that lets you be a little wild. You can play with patterns and colors and features that you might be a little afraid to put somewhere in a larger room in the house. The Midway Modern powder bathroom looked just like the rest of the house…really dated and REALLY   themed. Kathleen and I poured over powder bathroom ideas to get the perfect design for this space. It was time to give it a facelift and bring it up to date like the rest of the house.

Let’s take a look at where we started…

See what I mean…kind of a lot, right? Everything had to go.

A small powder bath is a great place to play with dark colors, wallpaper and all kinds of fun things. In this bathroom we decided to start with a plaid tile floor. We found this tile from Bedrosians at Lowes. How cute is that?

The colors in the tile were a great taupe, some browns and a dark gray. We picked up the dark gray from the tile and painted the vertical shiplap on the walls a deep gray – Kendall Charcoal by Benjamin Moore.

We designed a taupe cabinet with the coolest feature…a hidden step stool that pulls out on the bottom for all the grand kids when they are trying to reach the sink. If you’re looking for unique powder bathroom ideas…keep this one in mind! 🙂

A quartz counter top and wall mounted faucet in a pretty gold finish topped off the sink.

I should have cleaned the mirror before I took this picture. 😉

Isn’t she cute? I LOVE the way this powder bathroom turned out. It’s one of my favorite rooms ever.

You can get a little peek at the art over the toilet in this picture. A little colorful touch in here.

This dark powder room is a fun surprise right off of a light and bright hallway. The taupe cabinet is also a nice change from a typical white cabinet and the plaid tile is whimsical and combined with the white sink, it keeps the room from feeling cave-like.
