Paint can be so tricky! Who would have known that white isn’t actually white and that there are about 43,597 different shades of white? If you’ve ever felt overwhelmed walking into a paint store, you are not alone! I used to joke that our houses always look like I’m a fan of camouflage before they actually get painted because I have so many different swatches of different colors painted on every wall in every room. HA! I wish that I had been smarter and used instead of ordering a million pints and painting them all over…oh well! Hopefully you will be smarter than I am. 😉

I have wanted to create a dedicated post about paint colors for each different project for a while, to hopefully make it easier to try something you may have seen on the blog. We’ll kick things off today with the 1987 Fixer Upper paint colors.
Walls:
Sherwin WIlliams Repose Gray at 25%
The #1987FixerUpper faces North/South, which is great for melting snow off the driveway in the winter, not so great for the natural lighting inside. I wanted a little color on the walls, and I wanted a gray, but I needed something that was not very dark. After trying out LOTS of swatches, I settled on Repose Gray and had it changed to only 25% of the color to lighten it up just right. It’s the perfect shade for this house. A little bit of contrast against the trim, but light enough to capture as much natural light as possible.
Trim and Ceilings :
Sherwin Williams High Reflective White
This is the most pure white I could find. As a matter of fact, it’s the base for most of Sherwin William’s paints. If you walk in and just buy a can of base paint, this is what it is. It doesn’t have any creamy undertones or blue undertones, at least not in this house. Just pure, bright white.
Front Door:
Sherwin Williams Tricorn Black
If you are looking for a perfect black, give this one a try. A rich and true black perfect for cabinets, doors, trim…you name it, it’s great!
Kitchen Cabinets & Family Room Built In
Sherwin Williams High Reflective White
Kitchen Island and Pantry Wainscoting:
Sherwin Williams Salty Dog
I wanted a fun blue in the kitchen and I went through a ton of them! Salty Dog was the winner in here. It’s a very classic navy.
Interior Doors & Master Bathroom Cabinets
Sherwin Williams Repose Gray
I think it’s fun to paint the interior doors of the house something other than white, so to go along with the walls in the house being a lighter version of Repose Gray, I painted the closet doors, interior doors and master bathroom cabinets all Repose Gray at 100%. I love the look of it!
Office Built-In Cabinets:
Sherwin Williams Gale Force
This is a deeper, more charcoal based navy blue. It is such a stunning color.
Laundry Room Cabinets:
Sherwin Williams Dorian Gray
Kid’s Bathroom Cabinets:
Sherwin Williams Salty Dog
We purchased this home in April of 2017 and immediately began a total remodel. The home was in good shape, and had good bones in a great neighborhood, which is what drew me to it, but it was dark and closed off and needed to be modernized and lightened up. As with any remodel, things snowball and one thing leads to another. What started out as an interior remodel led to a complete exterior remodel too. We still have a long way to go with getting this place furnished and decorated, but here is the current state of this home. There are always a million projects, and I’m excited for you to join us in this transformation journey.
You can find some of the posts I have posted about this remodel here:

I’m realizing now that there are several rooms that I need to post about. I’ll get on that! Until then, I hope having these paint colors all in one spot helps with any questions you might have!
